TOPIC: XP shows 8 rooms of Golembane HC & Lycan Nightmare

I was skimming the XP lists (being the XP whore that I am) and came across an interesting anomaly:

Many players are credited with having run an 8 room Dungeon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the dungeons this year were only 7 rooms long.

Was there a secret bonus room somewhere which gave credit for a spare room?

I briefly thought the system might be giving credit for the GT runs as 8 rooms (for the "bonus" room/mini-quest) but it's never been handled like that before, and some of the players who did GT runs have the 8-room dungeon while others don't.

I suspect it's just an error in the database, but I am hoping it can be fixed.

Raven, I noticed that too, hopefully that can get corrected.

What I've also noticed is that, even though I've gotten full experience the last several years, I'm somehow steadily moving down the list. I used to be #4 or #5, then I noticed somehow before this last GENCON I was #6, and now I'm #7 on the list.

Have some people somehow been getting bonus XP? It should be impossible for anyone to pass me on the list when I'm getting full XP every year, but it is happening.

And, I think you have gotten full XP on every Dungeon every year and have always been in a tie for first place, but you're now in third place.

I did notice that several people are getting credit for more rooms on True Heroes than existed. I think one year had 6 rooms and the other had 4, but some people are getting credit for 7 rooms.

Hopefully those errors can be fixed.

Could be there were folks that account's were not setup correctly and have just now been fixed, inserting them higher than before. Haven't a clue just speculating.

BC, I understand what you're saying, and I'm sure that it's possible some people adjusted due to corrections. But it's impossible for anyone to be higher than Raven, she has 100% of possible XP. And it's very unlikely someone moved higher than I did, as I've done every Dungeon and wasn't far behind Raven.

Just a quick glance at some of the people ahead of me shows some glitches that need to be fixed, like having too many rooms in True Heroes, or receiving 100 XP per room in True Heroes instead of 50. I suspect the people that moved ahead of Raven and I did so because of errors in moving to the new computer system.

I also think I've been at Max XP since the very first year. I've certainly run every dungeon for Max XP, every year (even playing on Normal mode during the years when Normal XP stacked with HC)!

It is possible (as jedi pointed out) that some folks had errors in their XP which - when corrected - bumped them higher on the XP list, but I don't see how anyone could get higher than Max XP. An interestingly, anyone I've checked who has more XP than I expected has got one of the weird "more rooms than possible" errors in their XP list.

I had noticed that too. Part of me wondered whether SoCal's True Heroes had more rooms (since I did not run it at SoCal and couldn't say whether the event differed between Indy and SoCal) but any of those credited for 7 rooms were added well after the fact, since I was at the top of the XP charts for several years after True Heroes.

All things considered, I think our XP crew does an *amazing* job every year of keeping the records up to date & accurate with the sheer volume of gamers and the time pressure on them!

Just slightly off topic, but curious, have you all received your XP for last weekend? I still haven't received any from the runs that I did and was wondering if it was just me.

Your XP should be in the system, you should email Jeff if it's missing. It's not surprising if there are some glitches, with the transition to the new system.

How about the access to another part of the boards for lvl 5's? I just became one but didn't know if it was automatic or something someone has to do. No rush I don't know that I am missing anything.

They usually get the Lords&Ladies forum access set up a week or two after the Con. First they need to get the XP all correctly entered, and then they give the L5 people access.

If you still don't see the Lords & Ladies forums in a week or two, try shooting an email to Jeff or to info AT truedungeon.com with your full name and your forum name.

I am one of those "people" who legimately jumped a lot of folks (including Mike). It was due to a special reward on a GT run some (4?) years back. I also think there was one other person who gained XP due to a GT reward using the Deck of Many Things.

However, that being said, the person currently in first place is way ahead of Raven and Kim, and I don't know how this could be unless maybe he was the one who got the Deck of Many Things award (or is an error).

Jason Brown was the player who got XP a part of Deck of Many things. He was already maxed HP, so at the time Jeff ruled that he could not go beyond max, but his extra XP would kick in if he ever missed a room.

And I really don't know what to make of the True Heroes 2005 where you only made it to room 1. Were you really killed in room 1, or was that also an error?

I have no clue how TD adds in the extra bonus XP from GT rewards, because it doesn't show up in the XP lists. I wonder if they put in an extra room on certain dungeons to reflect the extra XP.. but that doesn't explain the dozens of people which played non-existant rooms.

Raven, that was my memory of Jeff's ruling also, that if a GT XP award brought you higher than the max, you didn't get the bonus. Maybe that's why Jim didn't get it back then.
