In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Vendor question

Vendor question 10 years 7 months ago #1

Haven't seen this addressed anywhere else (and I did look) ....

Is Gaming Etc. the only licensed reseller of Tokens? I spent most of my lone day at GenCon in the Dealers Area and they were the only ones selling Tokens. Their selection was limited to a couple of bins where all tokens were $2 each. Not much in there to say the least.

After GenCon was over, I look to see who was selling Tokens online and the only online place that wasn't an auction house was Gaming Etc.

I am new to TD and I know that there are a TON of tokens for sale on eBay but was curious about other possible places to acquire individual tokens.

There's no such thing as a licensed reseller of tokens. Gaming Etc saw a niche and moved into it but they're by no means affiliated with TD unless something has changed since I last checked.

Nobody is licensed as Henwy said..if you ae looking for certain things. Make a post of what you are looking for..or dig through the threads and see who has what for sale..difference between Gamingetc and on here, some people will take GPs for trade

Gamingetc had plenty of tokens you just have to ask for them. They had a case full of UR's.

As Lazlo said, the difference is people take gold here for items. The usual going rate for gold is .025 (i.e. 1,000 GP = $25) which has been steady for a few years.

Since you ask, I have a webstore (link in my sig) where you can see prices in two currencies: US $ and TD GP, and a want list of things I'll trade for since I've got a lot of collector in me. I need to update the inventory this weekend after the trading last week, but as everyone else has said you have lots of options.

Token trading is a small market relative to MTG so there aren't a lot of retailers who find it viable to devote a lot of effort to there. It makes more sense for most to deal in things with more demand, even if there is also more competition.

Gamingetc sells gold at around .035. What value they give when they buy it I have no idea.

As it was said before they do sell UR, Rares, Ingredients, and anything in-between. They had 4-5 glass display cases showing the tokens, which you likely couldn't see due to the line of people.

Also I have had no issues trading or buying from people on here, all great experiences.

Yes, Gamingetc prices are very high compared to the forumnites, for almost everything! The .025 for gold is here on the forums.

Though you do get a 5 or 10 (I never remember but I think it is 5) percent discount with discount code TDFORUM. I haven't bought much from them but I did get an Air Control Ring a couple years ago that was reasonably priced. They often have auctions on ebay as well where you can get great deals.

Their prices were very competitive actually, and they continued to get lower as the week progressed due to the high volume of UR pulls. They were selling 1k bars for $25.

Edit: Quick look on their site and the prices are higher.

In general the way to get the best prices is:

#1. Try the forums. Commonly traded items like most red tokens, ingredients, any green and a lot of purples show up on the forum. If you check multiple sellers you can usually get a pretty good price. (Little secret, if you are buying several tokens you can often get a bit of discount off listed prices). Some forum traders take gold so if you have a bunch of gold you don't want or need, you can get a great price by spending your "useless" gold.

#2. For harder to get tokens or rarely traded tokens try EBay. But make sure you check GamingEtc prices before you bid. It may just be cheaper to buy at a flat price.

#3. Wait a bit. Token prices are seasonal. Just after GenCon and the three months before GenCon, prices rise. In the winter and spring token sales are slow and sellers get more flexible.

Shhhh don't tell people that. I won't be able to sell something I bought in the spring before GenCon for a small profit. ;)

I find right before and after Christmas a good time to buy token and an awful time to sell. This includes into Jan as new tokens are ordered.
