In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Feedback and Suggestions

Heck, you can leave the group in a maze, even have both the puzzle and combat dungeons lead to the same maze. It wouldn't even really matter if the groups ran into each other because everyone would be trying to find their way out of it. Hell, you could do a massive maze to finish all four dungeons. A maze would be cool.

I remember one Dungeon where we were walking down the hallway, and there were two ways to go, but one of the doors was closing quickly so we had to make a choice. We jumped into the room where the door was closing - I think if we'd gone the other way there was some sort of treasure room?

oh dear lord, a mirror maze like you find at a carnival. Imagine trying to get a party through that in 12 minutes.

That was back when we were only running the Dungeon one time. I remember really wishing we had done that Dungeon a second time so we could try the other room.

Raven - what happened in the Magic Mouth room? We never experienced taking that path. I guess I could read the module, but it's more fun to ask :)

Only way I could see it working would with the twelve minutes would be if it was at the end but that might lead to xp congestion if people got lost and all ejected at the same time when someone who knew the way came through.

Only way I could see it working inline would be as a theme for a dungeon rather then a room.

If you didn't take the obvious route, you stood in a small cramped corridor for a while (something like the black-curtained hallways between rooms nowadays) and then the DM would come join you. You could search the corridor, and find that the far wall contained a concealed door. Taking your party through that door (which I remember we spiked open using hammer & spikes) you entered another small room (space was at a premium) covered in treasure - gold (plastic) coins, mardii-gras style sparkly necklaces, and prop jewelry. Back in the day before treasure chip (when treasure was handed out right in the dungeon) everyone got a treasure coin here.

Not sure where to post this, but thought someone might have an idea. First, had a blast both volunteering and doing back to back runs (note: give more than 15 minutes between runs to avoid problems)

My only concern has to do with completion of dungeons and experience. It seemed like there were some problems in the wrap up area, due partly to network issues and possibly large numbers of completions creating a bottleneck at the end. It was easily 20 minutes waiting to get our party info in, and with a new group finishing every 12 minutes, it did get a bit crowded. Also, as many notes had to be taken by hand (net issues) I'm assuming some did not get their proper XP for completions. (I completed and survived both adventures (Lycans Puzzle, and Golembane Combat), but only have the latter listed and credit for 6 of the 7 rooms, we were succesful.)

It's not such a big thing to me (though level 3 player does sound pretty nice), but I can see where others might get pretty upset. It might be a good idea to look into improved setup in that area in 2014, to more quickly cycle players into the treasure area.

Everything else was great, no complaints and I can't wait to do it all again next year.

(if anyone does know of a way to fix XP issues, that would be awesome.)

Since they are trying to tie the XP account to your GenCon account, if there are technical issues in the future they should be able to just write down everyone's badge number instead of having them list name and emails. That should go much quicker.

Of course, learning what caused the tech issues and trying to avoid those in the future would be important too. :)

My wife had a suggestion I thought was brilliant and promptly forgot until this very moment. It would require a little development to implementation but what about giving people with no accounts something like a business card with the Site url and a code to add xp for the run to their account after the fact. In theory you could use it for people with existing accounts too (though that opens up a slight possibility of overstating your xp but even then the 4k per year limit would keep it from being to exploited). The only runs people would likely need to have entered in person would be the 5th lv plus ones with physical perks like the badge holders.
