In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: First True Dungeon Experience

First True Dungeon Experience 10 years 8 months ago #1

So I really didn't know what to expect. One of my friends had done this before but my friend Sam and I had not. I had seen some videos of TD in the past and been impressed but I was not expecting the quality that I saw when I got there.

It was way past my expectations. I got some help from my friend Jon who had been through TD in the past and we built a dwarf fighter for the "Lycans Afoot" - combat oriented game. Loved it. our group made it through this one in normal mode fairly intact.

The next was "GolemBane" - Puzzle oriented.. gotta say, if my life depended on really solving those puzzles, it would still have had the same outcome. total TPK but didn't matter to me it was still fun and had a great time.

some advice to people who have first timers in their party.
I don't know your names nor would I put them here if I did but we had some pretty douche like people in the group (as luck would have it 3 of them were in both of the games I played) who wanted to take charge and kinda run rough shod over every one else's ideas. This was particularly a problem in the puzzle one where more brain and less brawn was required. There were people here who COULD have helped but each time our ideas were said, they were quickly shot down. Especially in the room that resulted in the TPK. Even the GM was getting a little frustrated with the 4.

Secondly, I know that you don't always have the time or luxury to run back to your hotel and drop things off. but TRY not to wear a backpack that sticks out 2 feet behind you. we had 2 of these and it made the experience a little less enjoyable when I was hit by a huge pack. If you are going to take the pack, carry it and set it down in the room when you get there out of the way.

I look forward to my next True Dungeon Experience with great anticipation. Who knows, may even do it in costume next time.
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
