In 2013 our plans call for us to add an additional adventure to the event. There will be two consecutive adventure modules, and each module will have two variations of either a combat or puzzle orientation. The first module called “Lycans Afoot” tasks the party to travel through a dark forest in search of a tower, while the second module called “Golembane” challenges the party to reach the top of tower.

TOPIC: Annual Warning to the Forum

Annual Warning to the Forum 10 years 8 months ago #1

Dear True Dungeon forum members:
It was very likely that some folks are going to make posts on the forum in the next week or so that or so that are angry or unhappy. In spite of all of our hard work, there are going to a few people that did not enjoy themselves. This happens every year. If you read a post that makes you makes you mad, please don't reply to it. An angry reply to an angry post will only make that person more unhappy and not make True Dungeon a better experience.

Dear True Dungeon Customers:
If you are making a post about a problem, please realize True Dungeon is always trying to improve and so specific details make it much more likely we can fix whatever wasn't right.

Thanks
George

I don't think I'm angry about the dungeons themselves as they gave off a truly epic feel. I do have a few criticisms however about other things.

1)Clips- as I am usually a healer in every group, not having binder clips for the run on Saturday was a nightmare for me. Being that 6/10 people in the group were new, they were not up on keeping their most recent life total in mind.

2)Token Hagglers- both runs I get greeted as I am walking away from the treasure bucket by someone wanting to know what I pulled and if I was new. They would then ask if I could stop by their area near the front of true dungeon for trading. Experienced players will quickly realize what is going on, but there is a good chance newer players will get suckered into the scheme. Can we get an anti-harassment policy in place against this type of activity?

3)Hasty GMs- this only happened in one room, but the GM when approached about casting/special actions would go 3, 2, 1, and you lost your chance. It did not help that there was an assistant/additional TD worker in the room talking with him. Again the run was 6/10 new and several adventurers were discouraged by this. It was not a slow countdown, and I heard several remarks to the tune of "why even try" and " I thought this was newcomer friendly." Can we please have some consistency on timing for actions?

Just a few thoughts. Thanks to all the new players who worked their butts off throwing pucks and memorizing planes, leaves, and beads.

Yep, there are always problems when there are a lot of people involved. True Dungeon is no exception.

I had one HUGE problem and one small one this year but I have made sure to PM the TD staff directly about the huge issue. I am sure it will get fixed.

The small problem was with a GM not knowing a puzzle solution well enough to see that we got the right solution. I took him aside, let him know I had done the puzzle several time before and that he might want to learn the path. I think anyone who ran both dungeons knows the room I am talking about :-)

We went back to the same solution but did not solve it in time after the major delay. The DM was at least kind enough to allow the party credit for solving the puzzle and did not kill off the 4 of us that were left behind. It is always a good thing when a DM takes credit for their mistake.

I want to thank Stew for stepping in on the large problem. His help was invaluable.

When I was pulling tokens some of the TD staff told some kids to back of and stop harassing people during their pulls.

I had a lot of new players asking about pricing on tokens they just pulled, I think most of the Vets would be honest and make fair deals.

Most of us will go out of our way to let people know they have something valuable.

The year the Dragon Tooth Amulet was being made a new player pulled one with their single treasure pull. They were right in front of me and said, "What's a Dragon Tooth Amulet?" This was before they were even allowing people to make them yet.

A kid near by said, I'll give you $20 for it and I could see the guy was considering the offer. I just quietly let him know that the token was worth over $100 (at that time) and to be careful selling or trading anything until he knew what things were worth.

Yes there are people that will take advantage but most of the TD players will be above board even when it comes to newbies.

i always tell people what and item is worth (possibly can get, if they wait and find right buyer)
then this is what i can offer in cash(which is lower)..unless in trade, then it is usually spot on(as close as I can get)

Like Mithral coin of fate..right now worth $550-600 (HoP)..it will sky rocket if the full rod is great, will stay at that price (because you can get HoP) if it is awful

If a noob was trading GP for rares, I was usually way in there favor

Some sort of eBay-feedback system would be nice, but totally unworkable.

Maybe we let Raven wander the trade area and give out Merchant Guild buttons to established fair traders, and hit any known fraudsters in the face with a red paintball. :)

But I've had nothing but great experiences with traders. There must be a bad one or two out there but I never met them.

@cdsmith - Shelly and I had a lot of chips this year, but we pulled four DTAs. I have almost enough to make a set of dentures.

LOL! Yeah, I pulled two myself. It wouldn't take much to get enough of them together to make a set of teeth. I think the last one I happened to see on ebay went for less than $50. Betting it will be even lower now. A nice ammy but limited in its use.

Some of the best puzzles we've had in awhile. They really made it so everyone had to participate. Spot on.
