TOPIC: Want Gauntlets of Orge Power willing to pay a lot

I like when your opinion differs from mine. That way we both can trade and both feel like we got the better of the deal.

The most interesting thing about trading at GenCon is going to be people will "put their GP where their mouth is". I hope we have a large volume of trading. (Otherwise all the token I bought were just a donation to the "Keep True Dungeon's afloat" fund).

Thanks George...I think I have said it before - when both parties feel that they made a good trade - it is...the guide should be consulted to a point - but if someone is willing to give away something that is their perogative, just like it is for them to feel something is worth more than what the guide says...

Add to this the same reason Douglas is holding back from most trades - the guide is still a work in progress...

This is exactly right. Again, the guide is trying to guess the average. Personal valuations for all tokens will vary and THAT IS PRECISELY what makes trades possible. :smt041 If everyone exactly agreed with the guide, then people AT BEST would be ambivalent about trades.

Is BHands at 45 yet? How about Flame Arrow at 75?

BH @ 45gp I think is a good starting point. FA is chance at 14pts. 50% chance? Probably <20% for me (I suck at the table :smt089 ). Personally, I'd rather use the BH than the Flame Arrow but thats me.

Wow, that was a pretty crazy trade. Unfortunately, if offered, I wouldn't trade them away at this point, being my one very rare from last year. Thanks again for allowing for traders remorse and trading back for the elxir!
By the by, how many of them(elixirs) do you have now?

I want to have 7, so I can bring the whole party back to life, if needed! MwaHAHahAHAHA!... Er, wait. I guess I'd only need 6 elixirs, since one of us would have to be alive to pour 'em down people's throats, right?

Well it is very possible that some don't have the taste for letting people value things a little differently and so traders beware -

It may be a good idea for people starting off on a possible trade to say if they are looking to go by the guide or go with personal valuation. It might just set the right tone for the trade.

In the case of George's trade offer it was a - personal valuation placing a very high value on the gloves in order to be done with it and convince someone to part with them. A good move in my opinion, as I was still not giving up mine - but someone else was.

OR in the case of Raven wanting my back-up wand of CLWs...I think the first one went fairly easy...this one is going to have to pry loose a bit I think. Afterall what good is a Cleric without a wand in each hand?

Good point, now that I have everything I need, except the ring of regeneration, I will be trading for profit.

Unless of course someone is willing to part with a ring of regeneration, in that case look out.

I wonder if I can get someone to rent me a ring of regeneration for GenCon.

Price lists are guidelines, and I think a great job has been done to assemble the lists, but I work in a free market business that changes every day--the produce business--completely driven by supply and demand. Every day I have to assess the market, and maybe that is why the token trading is fun for me.

I have known George wanted the gauntlets for several days. I just needed to see how badly he wanted them. I would not have traded them if I had only one pair, because I wanted them for myself. I had to make a decision whether or not to hold the second pair of gauntets for someone in my presumed party at Indy or trade them if I felt the price was right. My party is not formed in concrete, so I had made no promises to anyone about gauntlets. Some of the items George offered appealed to me, and maybe I could have asked more, but to me part of trading is making sure who you trade with is compensated adequately.

I got a wand of CLW from Gary. I thought to myself then--if he is letting this go for what I am asking, he must have plenty of healing or he has another wand. On the other hand it was a high priority for me because the token gods gave next to nothing in healing.

Long and short--as my wife and I discussed this, I could have used my second set of gauntlets to bolster her damage, but in reality the healing in her hands will be of more value--or maybe I'll be the cleric and she'll be the paladin.

In both of these trades, I got what I needed, and my trading partner got what they wanted--correct me if I am wrong, Gary or George. This may change in the tavern trading as parties without as many resources struggle to equip themselves. The prices the Blacksmith and Apothecary use will begin to be more of a stabilizing factor, but now it is the free wheeling market driven by supply and demand. Es la vida. And I love it.

The price guide is extremely important, but if I am willing to pay 75 gp for BH (which I am not), my demand is simply matching the supply available to me--not a lot to be concerned about until that supply/demand ratio begins to affect the entire community of traders.
