I am very unsure how popular the Scrolls are going to be. If you are planning on playing a mage are you going to buy token or trade tokens to try to get mage spells? I am especially interest if anyone is going to try to get the common mage spells (Shocking grasp, Magic Missle, Buring hands).

George,

Our Mage at SoCal 04 came through in the clutch with Flame Arrow and Melf spells from scrolls - doing big damage from a non-fighter source is fantastic help to the party.

I don't recall the minor spells coming into play much - but again if times call for an additional attack - the mage who throws in a few points of damage really helps.

The only thing I can say about the common spells is - in last years run of tokens - it was easy to get many scrolls. I have 13 burning hands 8 from 04 and 5 from 05...I have 14 Shocking Grasp - 11 from 04 and 3 from 05 Magic Missile scrolls I have 8 - 4 from 04 and 4 from 05.

Gary,
I guess that is what I am trying to figue out. If there no little or no demand for these items then prices may be a bit high. On the other hand if everyone wants to have 3 or 4 spares, then our prices are a bit low. Since I am not planning on playing a mage I have no idea. I just remember last year, my party had gold and extra mage spells were the only things we wanted to buy.

I would say the version 6 guide prices are a good deal to buyers for the common spells - but let's not forget the Wizard and Cleric have spells at the ready at the start of the adventure...If I recall correctly as the Cleric I had 4-5 heal spells - of which I used all of them. If the wizard has one of each of the commons then perhaps 3-4 more of each is sufficient. I would say demand is LOW and prices are LOW.

George,

Given that I am planning on playing a Mage, I can tell you that I want to get many more scrolls commons and others. I think burning hands for example (12 points of automatic damage) if you are fighting more than one creature, is awesome. Better than Flame Arrow? Its close but I suck at sliding so Id prefer not to. :)

Keep in mind though that even though WE (token fanatics) have many scrolls, we do not represent the norm or the majority. Most people will have 1-2 scrolls. Personally, I think scrolls will be in high demand but thats me. We will just have to see I guess.

Douglas,

Burning hands does 12? I thought it was 6 per target - not sure up to how many targets, though???

I can understand why it is at 50 doing only 6hp damage per target...but 12 - WOW I would say it either needs to move into Rare tokens or needs some other limit set as it would be by far the best common out there. (It is already the highest priced.)

I think he was saying that in the context of multiple monsters(2), 6 points each would be a total of 12 points of automatic damage. Vs. what you might get sliding the puck for those two.
Of course I could be wrong.

Yep - perhaps, but more than one could be three in which case it would mean 18 points??? No?

Well last year there were three lizard men in the final room.
Sounds like something like that could be handy, if that is how it works.
I dunno though. I still haven't played and have no tokens of my own. So I just speculate. :p

FAQ says "up to 2" This is very nice for multiple monsters. The Lizard man room would be a perfact use.

The 50 GP price is very reasonable for a scroll with a specific use (that is likely to occur).

Especially if you are poor with the slider. Hey, just break out your scrolls, deal automatic damage to both in one shot, sounds like a good thing to me.

At 50gp the BHands is the best common token to pull from a bag - hitting 2 targets for 6 hp is nice for any class.

I agree at 6 hp on two targets - it is a must in the arsenal. I would say any mage is wise to have at least 3-4 on hand...
