Please download the "Price Guide" available inside the Treasure Token section and give it a read. What you will see is a few TDer's guesses as to the perceived value of each token. However, we are seeking good comments and opinions as to how certain tokens should be valued. Please give your "two cents" about any token price that you feel is out of whack.

We will update the "Price Guide" frequently to respond to the great feedback posted. Thank you.

Overall looks pretty much in line with my own thinking.

Some thoughts:
* Darkvision might be 100 as I bet a lot of people might want to have their own cool light source for the dungeon.
* Everyone can use a +1 cloak and it's half as good as a +2, so maybe 125 or 150?
* Elixir of life could probably be more, as it effectively saves a person's life and gives them a chance at the dungeon again.
* It would be fun to include suggested prices for discontinued items too.

apteryx,

Thanks for the comments.

1) Darkvision - This is a hard one to cost as the impact is largely subjective. So we need to look at relative value. Would you trade a Potion of Darkvision for a Potion of Cure Light Wounds (+5)? This is a hard one and I'd like to hear what everyone says.

2) For the cloak, historically when an item is twice as good it is not twice as valuable. Simply because two +1 cloaks is not equal to one +2 cloak for several reasons, not the least of which is the "bling bling" factor. Now... if the cloaks stacked, then this would be a completely different situation. Also keep in mind that there are three times as many +1 cloaks as there are +2 cloaks floating around.

3) The Elixir is another tough one that I grappled with. You are correct, that it is very valuable and effectively heals one person. But I would put it less valuable than say the Wand of Cure Light wounds that can potentially prevent people from dying.

4) Hrm.. this would be tough as there is no anchor for equilibrium as I mentioned in an earlier post and prices are free to float based on supply and demand.

Thanks for the comments! Please keep them coming!

I would trade every Darkvision potion I had 1:1 for CLW potions.

What good is seeing in one dark room vs. healing multiple times for any given need...Darkvision is a one room thing - CLWs happens multiple times in an adventure.

Gary,

Actually, Potion of Darkvision lasts the entire dungeon. Does this change your opinion of the value? :)

Also a comment on the +1 cloak...it makes sense to me for it to be the same as +1 bracers or the +1 amulet.

Things that boost AC 1 and things that boost saves 1 are about the same - are they not? Maybe not 100% of the time, but a roll to save vs fortitude or take damage is the same as getting hit by a combat roll.

My point is a +1 is a +1 and they are likely to be equally sought after.

DOH! - is it too late to change my post???

It does not really change my opinion that much - I would say everyplayer wants one and uses it at the start of the adventure...however, how many poitions get burnt in the course of the entire run? I know we tossed down at least 10 when there was a double cure moment at SoCal.

I would trade all but 2 of my DV potions 1:1 for CLWs...

Gary, also keep in mind that the Cloak +1 (+1 to saves) does not have the same effect as the Amulet/Bracers (+1AC).

And I agree with you, I'd put the value of the Potion of Healing a little higher than Darkvision (80 vs. 100). :D

But a general comment for everyone reading the boards here is when possible, if you disagree with the price of an item, reference another item of similar value. Having a price sheet that is self consistant with accurate relative values of each of the items is very important. That will help iron out a lot of the conflicts.

Douglas,

I did not imply the cloak did...???

In fact, I pointed out how I feel that a save + and an AC + are about the same...your thoughts?

Sorry Gary. Yes, you mentioned the difference. I missed it.

Personally, I think the +saves is more valuable (slightly) than +AC. But given that there are multiple options for the cloaks (+1, +2, Elvenkind) there will be dilluted demand for the cloaks unlike the amulet. Likewise, the bracers of defense should be lower slightly. Hey! There is one change that should be made. :)

That is a tough compromise - hide or get +2 on saves...personally being a Cleric - (with both cloaks...) I will go with the +2 saves and face the music in fights.

As for multiple Bracers...hmmm +1 AC or +2 damage when flying stuff hits...hmmmm - tougher call here.

The strategy of who wears what is starting to THICKEN! I LOVE IT.

I think the Boots of Elvenkind need to go up to 150 or more.

They allow the Rogue to get a sneak attack in the first round.

(I don't remember how much damage a sneak attack does but it surely must be a large bonus)
