my friend who collects tokens and i were having an argument about the back printing of tokens. He believes that the .com printing is still the printing for ultrarares for this year (he hasn't bought any tokens this year yet). I told him that the symbol on the back is the spider (but i don't have an ultrarare from this year to prove it). What is the symbol on the back of the ultrarares from this year? Will there be a 2006a and 2006b printing like there was last year? I already looked at Ravens guide but i really wasn't sure.

Trembile,<br /><br />The .com were made from token blanks(one side td logo other side blank) created in 2003. These .com tokens were used as tickets/memento's the players could keep after their adventure.<br />Last year Jeff thought it would be cool to use these remnant 03' blanks to print the UR's for 05' to be found in the dungeon.<br />This year, as in previous years, the UR's have the token back identifier of the year. <br />You can show your friend page 26 from Dave's token guide. <br /><br />Oh, man is that a stretch.  ;/ <br /><br />DD is correct, however.  Just to mess with me (at least that is how I prefer to see it), Jeff used the .com back for the URs in 2005 (all of them).  The URs in 2004 printed as recognition tokens had the broken pentagram on the back.  The URs for 2006 have been printed on this years (spider) token back (reverse).<br /><br />Dave

i have a ultra-rare with the blowing wind logo from 2005 and some with the .com logo. my 2006 UR's have the spidey logo.

Smak,<br />I had herd that once before that some of the 2005 ones had the 2005a symbol on the back, if this is really true (dang-it) it means that Jeff printed a few with that first run then more with the .com back.<br /><br />I will have to have a talk with Jeff to see if he remembers which ones were printed with that symbol.<br /><br />Just for reference, what was the token you have with the 2005a symbol on it?<br /><br />Dave

oops. hehe it was the dragon head on a cloak of displacement. now i found something else. its a "potion:cure light wounds. 5 points." red with a .com. any ideas on that?

No ideas guys, but kind of a neat mystery.  If I am reading correctly, it may be that the Cloak of displacement was in the original token batch (2005a) with Jeff thinking he would hand out that token as a thank you to the volunteers.  It also might have been printed again by default during the second run.  It also could be that one or two stray tokens made it into the batch of .com tokens for the purple printing, similarly a .com token could have made it into the batch of regular tokens.  Given the sheer quantity of tokens sent to the printer and the fact the backs are printed in one process and the fronts are printed in another, it is quite possible that might be the case.  <br /><br />I will check with Jeff, but the last time we spoke about this, he only seemed to indicate there was the one .com printing.  If that is the case, then the three tokens mentioned already may represent stray, cool, unique ones.<br /><br />Dave

It would be interesting to know how these anomalies came into being...and if they are the rarest of the rare...<br /><br />Not that I would hunt them down and chase them, mind you...I'm happy with yearly sets and sets of the hard stuff...chasing the impossible dream has never been my thing - JK.  <br /><br />I can't wait for combos...although it might be necessary to get a proxy bidder each day to ensure a single person's odds of getting the harder ones...have to wait and see.
