TOPIC: violet ion stone consumption?

<br />It's an interesting dilemma. Magic marker is inadequate because it easily smudges off. A physical punch effect permanently adulterates the token, preventing recycling. <br />

<br /><br />Unless "spent" items could be used for combo-tokens. If multiple rods/staves/wands of one type were required to create some uber-item, say Staff of the Magi... then there would be a use for keeping them after they have been perforated by a gleeful DM.<br /> <br />Or perhaps they could be "disenchanted" for "pixie dust"... again for use in combo items or some other special effect.  =)<br />

That's a productive idea.

bah, items with charges are a type of consumable.  does anyone have a problem giving up their scrolls or potions when they use them?  not that i know of, because it is understood that you give up consumables when you use them.  why do people have such a problem giving up wands and such when the last charge is used?<br />i say just make it clear that items with charges are consumable items (in the token guide?), and will be collected by the DM when the last charge is used.  if a player wants to keep the token, then they need to treat it like any other consumable and not use it.

With a clear and permanent marking system, I don't see any particular reason for confiscating used-up tokens with charges.  And if they do manage a way to punch holes in them, that would be cool.  Like those decks of hole-punched cards you can buy in the souvenir shop at a casino.  <br />
