TOPIC: Bag of Holding

Bag of Holding 15 years 6 months ago #1

I know that the token guide says nothing about the token other than it was made as a cool addition for the collector's kit and in 06 I thought I remember hearing that a person couldn't carry a binder through without the token. In the past couple of years I have heard nothing about it. With the Alchemist Pouch and the Scroll Case protecting our potions and scrolls, wouldn't the Bag of Holding do the same thing? It would be nice to give this token a use for the people that have it.

It has no function. It's just a novelty.

Wouldn't be right to change it now.

I was thinking (jokingly) about adding a catapult as a Rare token.
How would players get it into the dungeon?
Why, a Bag of Holding of course!

Basically, the ruling was that the BoH was a novelty and was not required to care x # of tokens into the dungeon.

Just ask Mr. Cart Guy. (I didn't catch your name) He had a wheeled cart with several boxes, containing (I think) Poker Chip containers...all were labeled and he had several index sheets so he could find what he wanted - relatively quickly for that many tokens.
Of course, I didn't think wheeled carts or backpacks (had someone come through with a backpack on) were allowed.
No... I thought the understanding was that if you wanted to take a binder into the run that you needed the bag of holding.

There is no "Official" rule - the way a person takes their token property into the dungeon is their business.

I'd have to go back and check, but I believe TD has an official policy that handbags and backpacks are not allowed. I seem to remember people in 2006 being forced to use the bag check so that they could have somewhere to stash their belongings while they went into the dungeon.

My thoughs as to why:
- lack of room in the dungoen; the rooms are small and if we all wore backpacks, we be knocking each other - and the dungeon - down
- theft prevention - one less thing to stash a prop in on the way out...

Gary is right in that TD hasn't imposed any published guidelines as to how you can bring tokens into the dungeon.
I suppose, some year, we'll see a wheel-burrow (sp) going in.
No; the bag of holding is not required to cay a binder full of tokens into the dungeon. It's just a nice keepsake.

Yes; it would be cool if the bag of holding had some in-game purpose.
John,

I've been taking a backpack into the dungeon with me since 2005...It holds my tokens!

If a person has a bag/backpack, and it holds tokens, we let them go in...(we also do not search to prove tokens are in there - Honor System).

In the case where the dungeon has a certain element that might make taking something in "un-friendly" to the dungeon or the person taking said item in - we really discourage the item. (EX: horned helmets or weapons - with the shadow gate from 2007).

I opted on the side of caution, as the sharp horns looked like they would have done in the gate...
