I'd like to cite the case of finders vs weeping losers, your honor.

Could you actually force someone to give back a token? It's not like a person is likely to be able to prove ownership. I mean, there isn't a PoP serial number on these things.

I do force people to give me the tokens they find on the ground. I am the DM in the room, and in general the players listen to me and follow my instructions. Note, I've never had to do anything but say, "Did you find that on the ground? Is it yours? Okay, give it to me." And they do. Of course, they could lie and say they dropped it. I'm sure players do lie. And I give the player the benefit of the doubt. But in general, people give me the tokens they find. I take them because I'm mostly looking for the dropped purples that I know people are really anxious about losing.

I guess it all depends on whether you find anything worth lying about. I'll let you know if I ever do, or rather, I won't :).

I'd say that is a good mantra Jenette, at least I would appreciate a DM who runs a ship that way!

Has Jeff weighed in on this? I find the search function of this forum hard to use and can't seem to find a ruling on this. Do dropped tokens belong to the finder? If not, then keeping a dropped token is stealing. Do I as the DM get to keep all the tokens I find on the ground? And I find a lot of them. Seems like a FAQ on this issue would be important.
The one thing I know for sure is that Jeff has said before that any tokens found by the DM are to be turned in.
I would assume this should be the same for players, but we can't force them to hand anything over.

I say if you want to just GIVE tokens to others, do it outside the event. Period.
