Rod of Seven Parts questions??? 15 years 7 months ago #1

A few questions about the rod:

Is The Rod of Seven Parts usable by all classes?

Does it require a hand to Use?

Would a monk be able to hold it and still use flurry of blows(assuming the above is true)?\

~Thanks =)

I heard rumors about a Rod of Seven Parts ... thought it was a joke started by someone.
Was there such a token? If so, it should say on it what it does and which class can use it.

I will have to discuss with jeff on this or maybe he can comment here, but from the wording on the token it seems that it does not need to be held to be used. If it were completely up to me, I would say no, it does not need to be held. But that is Jeff's call.

Dave

no class listing, no hand symbol...i was told that it should take up a hand slot, but since the rules for it werent out, i was allowed to use it saturday without taking up a hand slot. i would also imagine any class can use it.

In story terms, I would say since you have only a part of the rod, you wouldn't need to carry it and take up a hand slot.

Following my previous post, the token did not have a "hand" marking on it so that would seem to indicate that it should not take up a hand slot.

Since the token was not appear in the guide until after the con, I do not have the full text prepared for the token.
The next version of the token guide will have that, the two rings, the skull, and the ingredients for this year on it.

Dave

I sprung this one on Dave. =D

More info will be posted later in the Token Guide after I talk to Dave about it and he explains to me in a gentle way that my idea is bad -- and we change it to something better.

But I can tell you this: Check out your AD&D DMGs for a sneak peak. This sucker is a 7-year combo item!

Is there going to be a chance to still get part 1 next year or did those of us who miss out, have no chance of getting the rod?
Yeah - this item bummed me out the most.
For something that is supposed to be collected and built on over the next few adventures, too few were handed out. WAY too few. I know of less than 10 in existence...

A lot more made it out than people think. Either that, or I just had some crazy luck in finding people who claim they pulled one out of the box. It just seems unlikely that I would have met all 4 people, 2 of which were complete newbies, right?

I dunno how many for a fact made it in, but of the ones I saw, two were offered up in trade to me.

At least 1 person went and offered it up to gamingetc (verified by gamingetc) and was turned down because she had no clue what it was. That person said they pulled it out of the box. I know Widseth pulled one. Some guy in a suit pulled one and traded it to me. And lastly, some other forumite pulled one.
