NEW Golden Ticket Sign Up Procedure for 2025 2 months 1 week ago #25

I'm pretty shiny new to TD, having run only 4 times so far. As a retirement gift, my hubby bought me one of the smaller tokens packages, and I lucked into one of the random golden tickets. I about fell on the floor! But I've been scared to send in my token to start the registration process because I'm afraid of being "that person" that brings down the party. I don't have deep knowledge of what my monk should be doing at this point, sunce I have only done casual runs with friends.
Can anyone tell me how welcome I would be in one of the GenCon runs as a noob? Is there a time slot with others that seem to be more beginner friendly?
Excited and terrified at the same time!

I don't have a great answer for you since i've never done it myself (congrats on getting a Golden Ticket though!), but I will say:

0. Read this if you haven't already: truedungeon.com/ticket
1. Play at a level you feel comfortable
2. Check out this thread for some monk builds (and determine where you'd fall in the difficulty level): truedungeon.com/forum?view=topic&defaultmenu=141&catid=571&id=258460&start=0 - important things to focus on (generally - +hit to melee for monk, +hp for survivability, and +saves)
3. Do what you did and post here - people in different runs may identify which runs they are on and if they have any tokens you could borrow (again, if you wanted hopefully you don't feel pressured!)

I think the single most important thing for anyone going on a GT run is to have fun doing a unique experience with a group of people who are all equally excited for the experience.

I hope you have a great time with whichever run you join and congrats again!

Wow, super lucky! I would say you don't have anything to worry about, yes there are a lot of vets on the GT runs but they are all great people. I'm sure they can help you with any Tokens if you want to borrow some to increase your build. GT runs are all about having fun, the ones I did were not very intense in terms of the vets expecting newer players to have lots of Tokens. Perfectly fine to be a brand new player on a GT run. Have fun!!

BIG TIME CONGRATS!!!

You will be absolutely welcomed with open arms and gleeful smiles! The majority of GT people are veterans who love helping new people. Just like with any prearranged group, once you pick a time you can find the rest of your crew on the forums and you all as a group can determine ahead of time what level you all want to play, and if anyone in the group has available tokens to share.

But...this is important, no matter the run, the level the group does has to be unanimous. So please don't feel any pressure to do anything you don't want to do.

If you have any other questions, ask away. The TD community is the absolute best and we all love helping new people. Welcome to the fun!

Congratulations! What a fantastic bonus retirement gift!

Don’t hesitate to send in the GT and sign up for a run. You’ll be able to see which Gen Con GT runs have space for a Monk at the TD Events website.

Don’t worry at all about “bringing down the party.” Having a good attitude and being there to have fun is the most important thing! People will be thrilled you are playing on your first GT run.

You can contribute to the puzzles regardless of how many tokens you have. If the rest of the group is experienced players, (1) they will likely have tokens to lend (if you want, you never have to take a loan), (2) in combat, you can do a lot of good by bumping other players into hits, and (3) a strong party can play short-handed, so any damage (and stuns!) you can offer is a cherry on top.

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask. People here love taking about TD.
