TOPIC: Pirate Map's and Being Greedy

Pirate Map's and Being Greedy 2 years 1 month ago #1

Hey folks,

I know gamers are going to game, but please stop asking your friends & family to redeem Treasure Map tokens. It is embarrassing for you. We are checking out all orders, and we can mostly tell when you are trying to cheat your fellow token collectors out of their chance to get a Pirate Treasure Map. And no...we won't refund orders (and ship together two orders) from different people going to the same address (even though it costs us more in shipping).

I apologize for the rationing. That is my fault for not paying enough attention to this subject during the design and the ordering of bulk treasure. However, this is the only solution we can currently utilize for 2022 so please understand and cooperate. We are looking at other transmutes for 2023 that will accomplish much the same thing as Trade Goods for random treasure.

Thanks for your understanding -- and patience with me screwing this up.

I'll confess, I am likely part of the group you are talking about. My wife, Isabelle's, first transmute was some trade goods and... 5 maps  .

In fairness, she has been actually playing TD for about 2 years now and is about to hit 6th level. It's not as bad as having people who don't play do transmutes but it is gaming the system. Historically, I do all the transmutes for both of us so having her do some was just a way to get 5 more maps.

Mea-Culpa :)

As someone who not only met their significant other through volunteering for TD and who has recruited like 8 local friends to TD, I hope our attempts to streamline by sending in both of our transmutes and maps as well as for 2 local friends' transmutes and maps were not perceived as gaming. I hope we're not included in the naughty list, as we asked ahead of time in the post Arcanist linked to make sure were were not doing something incorrectly. We just didn't want to manage multiple shipments in and out and were very deliberate and clear on our packaging. If you want it done a different way, we're cool complying to the new direction. The prior direction may need an update so it's not taken by others as well.

Just curious I have no stake in this, if you thought you could send them in together why did you posted

If your group has multiple players each one can make 5 maps but must submit their own seperate transmute box.

They can be combined on return shipping but it will require multiple transmute orders

Bold done by me for emphasis. Not saying you did anything wrong just seems you didn't always think they could be submitted together.
You either discover a star or you don't. You arrogant punk.

Per Le Grand Fromage, from now on when a mail order order includes a Pirate's Treasure Map , the recipient's shipping and billing addresses must be in the same city.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Does this mean that only 5 pirate treasure maps per family?

I have five sons who play regularly with me, as my team can attest to. Coaches, GMs, coordinators can also attest to this… they regularly have been checking them in for every VTD for at least a run each (usually a couple).

This past weekend I helped my two oldest sons, Matthew (approaching 30) and Jacob (25ish), send in their own. Usually I do it all for them within my own orders, but this time they used their own TD account and mailed in separate boxes, but with same transmute shipping address. They are both over level 6 players (probably level 8 if they can find their experience cards). I paid using my paypal account so I don’t know what the billing will be, though. They are not expecting return shipping to be combined nor refunded.. and even shipped their transmutes themselves in their own boxes.

They live in a different city than me (a good 75 miles away), but they both live in same apartment.

Their transmutes is being shipped to them, not me… but they are at same address.

I am not trying to do 6 * 5 for 30 PTM, but three orders for January. (In my family, there are six of us who regularly play VTD - Myself, Matthew, Jacob, Steven, Nathan, and Isaac, and four of us who travel to conventions).

I dont mean to game the system, break any rules, cause problems. But if it is now 5 per month per family, I guess I need to know.

They will be upset at having their tokens returned to them that were mailed over the weekend but if it is now 5 per family, i guess you need to be fair.

Going forward, we would like to know how this will work, however.
