TOPIC: RFID token case transport/storage question

RFID token case transport/storage question 3 years 1 week ago #13

This kind of feels like a challenge for the creative/crafty people in our community. What we need is an easily transportable container for storing and securing tokens that are HIGHLY recommended to be kept in their plastic cases. Seems like we now have 2, but that number will likely increase over time. We'll need easy access to the tokens for scanning purposes, but they also can't easily fall out of said container. These will likely all be very valuable tokens.

I mean next year starts the path of a fourth that would likely have RFID, and the TE transmute of 2025 (that was the year right? 2021 is last of the nuggets, 2023 is the next unknown reason, 2025 is the last ingredient and also the transmute year) will likely have an RFID if it is anything like the CoA. Assuming 7 for arcanum by 2028 a personal collector might have 4 of these.

“Personal collector” I realized was maybe the best way to say that. I had “normal player” in there and realized that is unrealistic as most players do not binge like even personal collectors trying to make a single character. There is a lot of self realization in this comment block.

I expect both the greater and lesser transmutes of the dragon orbs in 2022 will also have RFIDs in them.

I found these 40MM air-tight coin cases that hold TD tokens perfectly.

I purchased mine locally, but these appear to be the same ones:

I use the Optima binders and sheets from Trent for token storage. The encapsulated tokens will not fit in the pocket of the sleeve, so I take the token to the sleeve.

These are the ones I use, the 40.6mm silver eagle capsules. From what I've been able to see, the "silver eagle" size is the same across brands and is the ones that fit TD tokens.

Reap wrote: Lighthouse makes hard plastic sheets for coins in capsules. I use these for some of my tokens that are NOT in capsules though so I don't know exactly what size to get. I would guess 44-45mm would work (the sizing is measuring the inside space of the capsule, not the outside) but definitely no promises on this.

I decided to order a couple of these to try and my Skull does fit perfectly. Encap 44-45 is the right size.

I store all of my Chippy Onyx sets in coin caps and then store them in Encap pages. I then put all of the Encap pages in 3 ring binders.

Here are the pages I use:

Lighthouse Grande Encap 38/39mm Capsule Pages (for Lighthouse 38-39mm Capsules or Air-Tite H Capsules) -- pack of 2.

And here are the capsules I use:

Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 275962 Lighthouse Capsules -- 40mm $33.99

I copied this from a previous order. The capsule part number is for a box of 100. It's strange because the caps are 40mm but the pages say 38/39. But they fit perfect and I've been buying these for the last 4 or 5 years. The Skulls also fit in the caps however the lid is ever so slightly raised because of the RFID chip. The Skull in the cap does fit in the page and the page closes fine. A 4" 3 ring binder can hold 11 pages which is enough for all the Tokens in a given year.

Certainly a good option Rob. And switching to smaller capsules will fit more per page too.

For people who want to keep their Skull/CoA in the capsule that it came in, they'll need the Encap 44-45 though.

Another option for bulk storage of regular tokens (not the RFID ones) is to go capsule-less and get Encap 34-35. If you put the tokens in there loose and back-to-back (stacked 2 per slot) you can fit 48 tokens per page! Not recommended if you're going to be taking tokens in and out regularly though. That's a pain.
