I know that we can either toss out consumables or give them to someone at a physical con. I don’t want to toss them, but I’m going to have a bag of dozens of them, but they are almost entirely spell-boosting dusts. There aren’t new players on the forums, of course, so I can’t offer them here.

How are people thinking of passing these along?

Put them in an envelope or multiple ( or bags). Then at the next in person con. Find a new player or players and give them to them. If you can’t find them. Give to coach coordinator (s) or find me. We can make a
Pile in coaching for
Coaches to hand out.

My bag of used consumables is growing; so I was planning to break them into multiple bags to pass out to new players I find. I do like the idea of letting the coaches help with this as they no doubt will be able to recognize who are new players the best.

And don't forget a note that says "Jeff made me do it!"

I rarely use consumables but when I do they go into a bag (for newbies). Once I hit 50 Tokens I'm going to start tossing the next ones after in the trash. Yea, pains me to trash a Token but the way I look at it they are "consumables" and only meant for one use so by pitching I'm honoring the spirit of the game.

what about transmuting 1/2 of them and sticking a trade good in with each baggie of consumables for newbs?
I came here to sing and collect tokens, and I'm alllll out of money.

That's a cool idea and may lead to some new players saying what can I do with a Philosopher's Stone or an Alchemist's Parchment? You might even put in a card that has the link to the transmuted page of the website. So they can easily find out.

I have been placing them into 10 pack baggies, I plan to hand them to newbies in coaching. I figure that's a good way to both identify new players and get a wide distribution.

Maybe we could setup a 5 gallon bucket for people to drop them in near where we have the freebie common weapons in the supply room or something if there are lots.

As I recall people used to throw stuff in there organically back in the years when it was more of a random bucket anyway.

I’ve been keeping track of the VTD consumables for myself, my husband, and the other members of our guild. For now, I’ve been using one snack-sized zip-top bag for each person for each run. Each bag has anything from 1-8 tokens. They hold things like totem paints, wands, healing potions, Hitchhiking Ghosts, runestones, and ammunition (mostly arrows).

I now have dozens and dozens of those bags. (They currently fill one of the plastic trick-or-treat pumpkins we used to hand out leftover Halloween candy at the last GHC, and are on their way to filling the second.) I’m planning to bring them to the next convention that we can drive to—they’re heavy! I’ve had thoughts of poking my head into coaching rooms asking if anyone is new and then offering them a chance to reverse trick-or-treat for tokens, but honestly, dropping them off in a giant bucket in the transmute room or something would be a lot less time consuming. There’s enough stuff that I would be spending a lot of time every day looking for unsuspecting noobs to take the consumables off my hands!

I like the idea of 5 gallon buckets at coaching... drop off as you go through...

Looking forward to finding a new group and giving them a full set of Transmorph Charms for their run.
