TOPIC: Tokens of Cold Protection

Tokens of Cold Protection 3 years 7 months ago #1

Do tokens that give minuses to Cold damage (e.g. Ioun Stone:Sapphire Cube) also provide protection against natural cold's initiative, spell casting, and weapon drop effects, or do we have to get tokens that protect against those effects explicitly?

I ask because as an old hiker/camper I'm looking at those Thornbarb Pass pictures and thinking that warm clothing is definitely in order. Now to find a Canteen of Hot Cocoa Quaffing .....

The module could be written either way, but historically damage resistance from cold has not made one immune to weapon drop stuff - do do that you'd need complete immunity, not resistance.

Certain tokens do bestow immunity to natural cold damage: tokendb.com/negates-damage-from/non-magical-cold/ - and I believe the Druid has a spell that grants immunity too.

I would expect these to prevent things like weapon dropping - but again - the module can have whatever special conditions it wants.

Thank you for clarifying that. It makes sense.

Bliss Runestone?

tokendb.com/token/bliss-runestone/

Monster attacks designed to force their victim to drop their weapon are ineffective against a character under the effect of this runestone. It does not prevent the victim from taking damage or suffering other ill effects, it only prevents the forced weapon drop.
