So, i expect i will switch to the ones kirk uses, but out of curiousity; could you explain what failed with the bubble mailers?

I ask because i know i will add tape to corners/edges because it seems the weakest points are the seams at the corners where a little pressure from bending with a token in the corner could pop the seam.

Bubble mailers tear very easily. As a human* being, I've never been a package that went through a postal processing plant and I hope I never do because I know I would be horribly, probably fatally, maimed. Packages get stomped (I've seen the footprints to prove it), smashed, banged, flung, and every other kind of physical abuse you can think of before they arrive at their final destination. I'm not being hyperbolic, you should see the mangled stuff we get at TD HQ. If your package is not sturdy and secure, It. Will. Fail.

That's actually a great deal! It almost beats my bulk buy price from Uline. I do tape them well, as this version isn't self-sealing, and even if it was I'd still tape it up to be safe.

With enough tape almost anything will work, so your method is probably fine. And bubble mailers are better than plain paper because the bubble wrap forms a bit of a pouch inside. The challenge is in the seams, typically at the back for example, or even the self-sealing flap. If you have a bunch of tokens in there moving around they can work their way out through the seams.

If you have only one token in a well-taped bubble mailer then I think you are decently safe. But if you have a bunch of tokens you have more weight trying to get out. In that case I'm not sure if it is better to combine the tokens into one inner bag or to leave them spread out. I think the one inner bag is more likely to make its way out but at least the tokens are kept together if/when that happens.

I just recently received a bubble mailer that was completely empty because all of the tokens fell out in transit.

after reading one of the topics a while back, I just started tapping the ends on all my bubble mailers. That said I have had very good luck overall

I use the 4x8 bubble mailers, but I put the token in a card sleeve then tape it to a piece of card board. Works for 3 or 4 tokens. Also I use extra tape on all sides.

At the price that Druegar posted, it breaks down to 4/$1.

I can't get bubble mailers much cheaper than that anyway. After receiving many orders from TDTavern, I can attest to the security of the photo mailers that Kirk uses. You can just drop tokens in the mailer and send them- no prep work required whatsoever.

I'll be making the switch.

I still use bubble mailers, but that's because I only ship tokens maybe twice per year at most so it's not worth going out of my way to get something, and I already have the smallest size on hand for shipping Magic cards (which are most decidedly not as sturdy as TD tokens).

I do make sure any tokens I included are taped down *very* tightly to a sheet of paper inside the envelope to minimize the chances of it breaking out and moving inside the package.

I have received bubble mailers with holes clear through them.

I put some extra tape on edges and to hold it down and seems to be pretty solid.

Yeah that looks great. For my volume I have to keep costs down, so I stopped using self seal because I don't trust it anyways and I always would tape over it.
