TOPIC: 2006 Tokens, are they worth anything?

2006 Tokens, are they worth anything? 4 years 8 months ago #1

Hello!

I did a True Dungeon way back in 2006 at GenCon SoCal and I bought around 5 packs of tokens when I did it. I went to GenCon this year and got to do TD again and enjoyed it very much. I recently dug all my old tokens out of the closet.

I imagine some of the armors are still usable, but I can't imagine the weapons are since they probably won't work in the pucks that are used now. Can you use the gear tokens? Are they useful at all in the dungeons they create now?

Do people still collect the old wooden tokens?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might help me with all my questions!

Hi Ryan,

It's great to have you back at True Dungeon! Your old wooden tokens should all still be usable, except for a few like Rumor tokens, anything that creates light sources, maybe a few others. Your armor is definitely usable, as are your weapon tokens even though the magnetic holders won't magnetically hold them in. The gear tokens, like rope, can still be useful. If you think of a situation they might come in handy, just mention it to the DM and see if it will work.

There are also some people that collect wooden tokens, including me. 2006 wooden tokens probably aren't worth too much except for Elixir of Life, but if you'd prefer more recent chip tokens you could list what you have on the forums and see what offers you might get. 2006 had really neat spider token bags also, so if you still have those people might be interested in trading for them.

Again, welcome back to True Dungeon, and welcome to the Forums. :)

Thanks,
Mike

I too would be interested in your older wooden tokens.

Honestly though, it'd be even better to have you back in the game using them!

if you are trading or selling any, always get a second or third offer
or at least a person or two to give you a value

Agreed, which is why I recommended posting them on the forums. That's a good way to get several offers plus some advice on values. :-)

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies!
Its good to know my old tokens, even the wooden weapons are still usable! I dont know if they are any good but I do have two red ones, a +1 long sword and a +1 long bow. I have a +5 elven chain as well which is red which I think is better than most of the other armors that I got this year doing the dungeon.

I'm not sure what you mean about the spider bags though. All my tokens came in just black felt bags similar to the red felt bags I received tokens in this year.

Thanks again everyone.

Hi Ryan,

Those are three great rare tokens for you, it gives you melee and ranged weapons as well as armor that multiple classes can use.

Regarding the bags, a lot of the ones from 2006 had the True Dungeon logo as well as spiderwebs on it. It was the last year True Dungeon had token bags with logos, other than special bags like Gold Ticket runs.

There is a token needs section of the forum where you can find several folks that collect wooden tokens.

Two off the bat that I can think of is Mike Steele and Trent of Trent Tokens. These are several others also.

Mike's posting is at

Trent's posting is at
