TOPIC: Charm of Quick Strike - Clarification Please?

Charm of Quick Strike - Clarification Please? 5 years 2 weeks ago #1

So I just read Druegar's update in the token thread, and went to read the description in the token database. This sentence surprised me:

Once per room, if the party’s Initiative Check roll is a natural 15-20 and the party wins the Initiative check, anyone wearing a Charm of Quick Strike may immediately slide an attack (melee, ranged, or spell, any kind of slide attack is eligible) before combat starts.

Is that new? It certainly doesn't seem to indicate on the token that you also needed to win initiative. I was under the impression that you could absolutely lose the initiative check (as happens sometimes even when you roll a 15+ on some of the higher difficulty levels) but as long as your roll was a natural 15-20, you would still get your quick strikes in. Is this not the case? Was it always this way, or was this a decision stemming from the 'once per room' discussion?

The winning initiative requirement is not new. It was not added as part of the once per room update. It's been in the QTR since at least October 2018.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .
