The 2018 effects are known, it is unknown if those effects will change in 2019 or new or more charms will appear in the treasure.

I feel it’s unlikely, but I think it would be super cool if the power changed yearly.

If we aren’t getting more charms I think it would be neat if they got more powerful each year a set got turned in.

It might be neat but sounds like extra work for Jeff.

And the character app programmers.

I don't think so - the character generator's don't need to account for charm effects - they didn't last year.

None of the effects in 2018 affected party card numbers.

However, notes did get written on the card for some selections.

Fair point. I guess they had no effect until turned in.

I mean... yes? So are new dungeons each year.

Providing new content to players is what True Adventures, Inc. is in business to do, right?

i disagree that they are in the business to create every increasing set of power for unknown period of time. they gain nothing for this. building new dungeons gets them money each year.

I think TD often does whimsical things that may or may not directly impact the bottom line. The charms of transmorph themselves I would put in this category.

If changing up the powers is too onerous I'm sure they won't.

I don't imagine it to be a big difference, as they already have to do it for AoW and Eldritch Runestone.

I thought the point of Charms of Transmorph was to appeal to people who get lots of treasure pulls but don't like getting lots of ordinary/greaves uncommons and rares (or other nonpremium stuff). They upvalued the relatively diluted treasure boxes by providing something you couldn't get anywhere else and that had mysterious benefits. Look at how much the price dropped for them after things settled down. They temporarily pumped up treasure pull value. That seems directly related to encouraging people to want more treasure pulls, which indirectly either upvalues more runs or having more TEs.

I'm all for things just like this. I don't need to care about getting them, so I can offer mine for cash/trade (I still have 2-3, ... by ... the ... way). Someone else can value them far more highly than some mundane uncommon/rare or even things like common trade items or 3pts. Then, besides the economic aspects of them, they provide something different without blowing the power level out of the water. Different is appealing to people who run the same dungeons multiple times, whose characters don't vary all that much from run to run, or whatever.

I'm going to interpret this as "Charms of transmorphs are the new normal, and will be in the 2019 treasure because they are no longer weird."

I just assumed the weird was moving to another slot ;)

D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir
