I'm presuming all discussion in this thread may be spoilers for 2019. You have been warned.

Then again... maybe Jeff is just taunting us with bad info like sometimes happens...

But, since the following have been added to the TokenDB, I feel like they are now fair game to discuss:

Soul Coffer
Soul Jar

So, what are Lost Ones? Surely these tokens aren't designed to protect us from a song by Jay-Z? Am I forgetting prior references to Lost Ones in TD? Or even D&D in general?

And what do we suspect their effect may be on the dead who don't have one of these tokens?

I'm more wondering where those tokens come from (we might be to the point where the tokendb needs to list originating con for the completion tokens (assuming source)), honestly if it is a next year environmental effect I'm surprised it would have been saved for a smaller con, but C'est la vie

Also just as a funny note, by chance I have the same box thats pictured on soul coffer. I use it for storing usb sticks XD

Sartre sits in in a coffee shop and asks for a coffee without cream. The barista apologizes “Sorry, we don't have any cream. Can I offer you a coffee without milk instead?”

The first thing I thought of was these little creatures in ARK Survival Aberration that came out if you didn't have a magical light source. They were called Nameless Ones and multiplied quickly. If you killed enough of them then their boss was summoned. When exposed to magical light they got a wonderful debuff which helped kill them.

Gotta say - I’m pretty excited about these!

Although... I was also pretty excited about Belt if the Fey and I think that was a big red herring...

I think it's pretty clear that upon dying, players (due to the Lost One effect) get reanimated or possessed. Pretty much dead characters will attack you unless you have one of these tokens.

Personally, I think it's kind of lame that it appears to be slotless. Sure, the effect might hit you once but once you get this token you can just ignore it entirely.

Too easy to bypass this character effect.

Again, assuming its not a red herring.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Just let it 'leak' that if you get reanimated and kill your party you get the survivor pin for being 'alive' at the end. Then people will stop equipping it even if they own it.
this is not a signature.

Now in Grind you can have the "Found Ones", they can kill you and take your body and the token won't protect you.
