The number of tokens I’ve seen disappear altogether in my eight years of playing and seven years DMing is... well, zero. The only one I know that vanished was a kid walked away from one and it was presumably pocketed by some jackhole.

Which doesn’t mean it never happens. I’ve heard of it happening, and if it happened to you then I’m truly sympathetic. But it seems like the concern is disproportionate to the actual risk.

And now we have magnetic sliders. I was one of this who said I’d NEVER use a legendary weapon, and now I have two, and I’m really not worried about it anymore. YMMV

Last year in true grind I lost my Welfor’s for maybe 5 minutes...it really sucked... I had glow in the dark tape on almost all other weapons, just not that one... now i have it on all my weapons that I use... even with the magnetic sliders.

I like the idea of proxies for high end weapons (relic and legendary)

Would TD consider proxies made by a outside source if.
Proxy is the right weight, size, magnetic, smooth white token so that it’s is clear it’s not a TD product. Accurate damage wheal and says proxy of (token name).

I’m not sure if this is practical or if anyone would go to the effort if it were allowed. But I would want any legal proxy to not mimic a real enough to trick anyone.

I'd be worried some of those proxies might find their way to the secondary market, and people might start playing them when they didn't have the originals.

Sadly, given the recent events involving Treasure Enhancing tokens, I'm afraid this would be abused.

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I didn’t say it, which I should have but you would still do a real weapon ownership check in the coaching room. This would need to happen regardless of what system is put in place if there is a change of policy in the future to allow proxy’s.

Also possible to put a not saying the proxy rules on the token

Glad it made its way back to you! I'm probably going to order some of that tape, now.

Proxies are bad don't do it.

That should just about sum it up.
Seems like we have this conversation ever so often.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

My offer stands... look me up at any of the conferences and I can give you enough tape for a few tokens... I have only used a fraction of the roll I bought. No charge.

i am committed already for Origins, GenCon, and GameHoleCon... at Origins I believe I am in the transmute room most or all days... so you can find me easily.

The more i think about this, the more it feels like an unnecessary complexity...

True

I also just figured out some poker chips have magnetic cores so it cold be just a crappy sticker on a poker chip. And still accomplishing the same things

I.. don’t quite know what side of the fence you’re on. I agree we could make up our own “crappy sticker on a poker chip” or “CSoaPC” proxy, show the coach we have the real weapon, and we’re on our merry way. Even if someone slips by and cheats, so what? Folks can cheat with HP and token builds (no coach has ever verified my nightmare build, just TEs). I don’t agree with some folk’s premise that this practice could lead to some uninformed buyers getting ripped off; anyone can do that today even if proxies arn’t offically allowed.

I’m for proxies, but I’m against proxies that look real enough to pass as forgeries.

If proxies were allowable, and I owned a legendary weapon, I would likely use a proxy.
