TOPIC: Magical Weapons

Magical Weapons 6 years 5 months ago #1

I thought I would take this offline a bit.

The section "What makes a weapon 'magical'?" has been in the QTR since 2012. It's copied in full below:
Other than "plain" Silver or Masterwork weapons/ammunition (which are the only exceptions), if a weapon has any kind of + To Hit or + Damage printed on the token, it counts as "magical".

Therefore, the following broad classifications are observed:
  • Alchemical (Holy Water, Sacred Hand Grenade, etc.) = not magical
  • Dwarven/Elven/(Faerie-)Iron/Gnomish = magical
  • Energy damage "baked-in" to damage wheel (e.g., Shuriken of Shock) = non-magical
  • Masterwork = not magical
  • Mighty = not magical
  • Runestone (only if it gives a + To Hit or + Damage) = magical
  • Silver with a +X in front of the name = magical
  • Silver without a +X in front of the name = not magical
  • Weapons that grant To Hit or Damage bonuses to spells. (e.g., Staff of Focus) = magical
You can view all the non-magical weapons in the Token Database .[/color]

So a couple of odd entries in the token database:
Gnomish Throwing Hammer Non-Magical even though it states a +3 to constructs.
Drow Blood Mace Non-Magical even though it gives +1 healing per hit. This is not a +1 to hit or damage, but seems similar.

Sorry for one more question. The runestone is magic, but does it make a non-magic weapon, magical if the runestone is present?

Not a big hurry. The next rev will not go into testing until after GHC.

Thanks!

I must remember to fix that next week after the TDb thaws.

Healing != To Hit or Damage, ergo, not magical

yes
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .
If I write something in teal, it should not be taken seriously
