Alright, I've talked with Jeff and have the green-light to start working on a collection management site. Here is a current list of features I plan to have done before launch.

  • User Login and Profiles
  • Searching, filtering, and display of Tokens by
    • Name
    • Classes
    • Slot
    • Year
    • Rarity
  • Toggle to hide tokens from search that you already own
  • Ability to set up multiple collections under one account (by default, only one will be setup)
  • Ability to add and remove Tokens from your collection and change the quantity you own
  • Link to the TokenDB page for the Token
  • Ability to link your collection via your profile
  • Responsive design for use with mobile devices
  • Ability to export your collection into either a CSV file or a PDF
  • Profile setting to toggle loading of Token images, for a text-only experience
  • Profile setting to change skin/ui color scheme of site
  • Profile space to link to your TD Forum Account if wanted

And those are just the features I'd like to have at my own fingertips. If anyone has any suggestions for features they'd like to see, I will happily take them into consideration. Doesn't mean they'll wind up in there at launch, but they may come in a future update.

Sounds like a wonderful idea.

Speaking from a trading perspective...
  • Ability to provide a URL for your collection.
  • A field per token indicating if you are willing to trade it
  • Ability to search all collections for a token and any members that have one marked for trade would be returned (so you can then PM or email depending on their profile preferences).

The URL for the collection was actually what I had in mind when I mentioned linking, though I suppose I didn't word it as well as I could have. What my point meant is that the sharing links to said collection will live on your profile page, and perhaps on the header of the collection page as well.

Trade indication is a great idea! Could even track a quantity for trade as well. And I will likely leave the handling of PMing via here on the forums, but searching for trades is a great idea. I'll definitely be trying to have this on launch!

I would also suggest speaking to the character creater app guys because if you could integrate the two apps by only showing tokens in your collection (naturally ability to toggle on/off) would be a nice feature.

Also, for common/uncommon/rare it might be beneficial to be able to mark a whole year as opposed to individually saying you have those 120 tokens from that year.

Ultimately, I'd like to input my collection, then build a party without fear of over-allocating.

So, i can build 10 characters but, if I only have two Defender sets, I can only equip two in the party.

Our paladin/cleric combo share many BiS tokens, but there are some we only have one of.

Quite. Or, 40 at a time. Like a "select all" by rarity, but then you can deselect them individually.

I'd like it to have the same function the old True Dungeon database had. Where you can put in the tokens you have available to trade / sell, and you can put in the tokens you are looking for. Then, anyone can click on that token and see everyone that has them available, and everyone that is looking for it. Of course, there were a lot less tokens back then. :)

Can I recommend a (heh) tokenized restful API so you hook into it with a phone app?

It should make integration with other apps easier, but more importantly it would give you the ability to work 'offline' as internet service in the stadium was spotty in places last year. If the goal of this is to show other players your 'stuff' or to just keep track of your 'stuff' ala good-reads .. then a disconnected model will keep things available without chewing through data, or needed connectivity.

+100 to this. Glad you've been give the green light.

I also suggest searchable by:

- backing type of the Token: Gold, Plat, Onyx etc and
- exchange program classification: Plank, Stone, GP, etc.

Would also be nice to have a Notes field or Miscellaneous text field where the user can log information in on who he/she received the Token from and when he/she received it. I keep track of this for my more expensive Tokens.

And eventually it would be great if the Transmuted Token recipes could be tied in somehow. You would click on a Asher's +5 Fang and have a list of the Tokens you own that meet that recipe show up, along with the ones you still need to complete it.

Notes should be easily to implement for launch, and I was already planning on making an API for it to fetch collections for later app usage. A Trade/Sell search could also be easily done.

I'm not sure about the backings, or program classification. I'm polling my data from the main page of TokenDB, so unless it's listed on their results screen, I can't easily grab the data to add right now.

I should be able to make a Recipe interface that checks your collection against the needed materials however. Nice suggestion!

I echo Brad on a way to integrate or note what tokens are in builds. See what i have to use at a given point that's not in a build. I'm the token hauler for my group and knowing what is in build vs what i physically have would be a great boon (one worth paying for to be honest). I look at Cranston's android app as more than worth the few bucks he charges. For those of us who'd really use it it'd be worth it.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

If I can get the API done right, Cranston could technically make a feature to call your collection down into the app and limit your choices based on that.

Another thought. This is minor but it would be nice if there was a way for the user to either add Tokens or at the least submit a request to have a Token added. I have a fair number of misprints that I currently keep track of (Woodie's with the incorrect year symbol on the back, a chippy that has a label on both sides, some chippies that have the year embossment missing, Dire Squid Ink Trade version, etc.)
