I'm not happy with this. Why?

This past year Team Yeti all contributed to different degrees that we put in for an $8000 order. That is about 10-11 of us and now we have to figure out a way to see who gets the SOoD.

And, since this will be a transmute Token a few years from now the person who gets it this year will obviously want/need the ones for the following years, too. Otherwise what's the point of each of us just having one for different years??

Our 8K pooling team is having similar difficulties figuring out how to deal with this.

It was a really cool surprise gift - and I am grateful Jeff sent them out - but it's hard to figure out a fair system for allocation - particularly when some people want to sell it/ebay it for cash, others want to work out a fair distribution internally, and others just want to roll to see who gets it.

But I tell myself: We are adults. If we could work together to figure out a fair way to split $8000 worth of tokens, we can figure out a fair way to deal with a bonus token.

...I hope I am not lying to myself ; )

I'll help you all deal with it.

(puts it in pocket)

problem solved.

I've got a feeling this Token, over the next 8 years, will destroy more friendships than a Monopoly game.

wait a min here..hold on..i cant believe this...not for one minute

you must be joking

you have friends?

A couple... in my head... the voices that aren't against me... :woohoo:

Based on Matthew Hayward's suggestions I think the easy solution is to do a forum auction and your team members can bid on it just like anybody else. The money is either distributed among everybody equally or put into the pool for your 2016 token purchases.

That's why economics is so cool, I'm sure one of your team members cares more about this token than the rest, so if they put their money where their mouth is then they can keep it.

Just an idea!

I disagree with this having any possible positive outcome. The most likely result is more than half of the group will feel slighted because they don't have enough disposable income for paying big bucks for a plastic Token.

So many here play for the love of the game. So many here don't have the money to buy the higher end Tokens. But! That doesn't mean they are non-chalant about missing out on the opportunity to feel special with Tokens like this.

Heck! I still feel foolish for not hoarding GP since I started playing in 2005 and following better on the TD forums so I could have had a shot at an Artifact during the TD Auction days. I was there for the first one and was more than jealous. :(

If I ruled the world, there would be five- and eight-piece set bonuses instead. It should require less cream in sharing the orbs if everyone got to hang onto one, versus one person gaining them all.

If the transmutes were expected to have a cost beyond the Orbs a la RoSP, then how about this modified suggestion: Diadem of Dragonkind - recipe TBD. Required to claim the Five-Orb set bonus. (Note it doesn't grant the bonus. You must equip five different orbs PLUS the Diadem in order to get the bonus. Whatever it is.)

With the estimated two-dozenish Orbs in existence, I really, really don't like the idea of smelting them. That was the thing I hated most about the RoSP. I made one and really, really wanted to keep the segments for the second, but it made zero sense not to.

I am really curious where people are coming up with this two dozen orbs in existence? It might be correct but also seems like it came out of no where.

Lazio, Kirk and Dennis's reasoning which is really sound. Number is more like 28-35

Two might be pretty ambitious. My guess is that there are fewer than 25 of the first orbs out there excluding whatever goes into the GenCon treasure box (wonder if that will be the first orb or the second?).

Lazlo sold one on eBay and I sold one on the forums for about $500-$550 (IIRC). I do have more but am not really motivated to sell them at that price, I'm debating just waiting until the details are revealed before selling any more.
Dennis also sold one on eBay in that range as well
Correct on the Ebay auction. I have to agree with Kirk's estimate of 25 (but maybe closer to 30-ish?) Keep in mind that fewer $8K orders got filled, in general. Alot of customers get $1K, $2K or $4K orders for themselves, preferring not to deal with stores (or combine with others.) Some customers want to financially support True Dungeon, but on their own terms or have difficulty trusting others.

With a few "singleton" $8K orders, here is how I'd guess (estimate)

Laz: eight 2015 Orbs,
Kirk: six 2015 Orbs,
Matt: six 2015 Orbs,
me: four 2015 Orbs,
Singles: six 2015 Orbs.

But it is an "educated" guess. [per Dennis]
