What is the fate of Plinko, given the changes to GP distribution?

I am also of the mind to answer with "it depends on what you want to do". If you want move up and play Nightmare difficulty right away, then spending money on gear and UR tokens is the way to go. If you are just looking for "MOAR GEER!" for yourself and your group to play at Normal or Hardcore level, then yes, get more Treasure Enhancer tokens and the "MOAR GEER!" will come over time.

Also consider this: How many runs will you go on per year? I would suggest, with no number crunching to back it up, that unless you are going on 4+ runs per year, the Treasure Enhancer tokens are *not* worth it. Nice, but not worth the money. When you hit 4+ runs per year, then the Treasure Enhancer tokens definitely pay for themselves.

And lastly consider: Do you plan on getting into Transmutation? If yes, then get Treasure Enhancers tokens as you will end up with a lot of gear you can't or won't use. You then take those extras and turn them into Trade Items, which are used in Token Transmutation. If your answer is no on transmutation, then you don't need Treasure Enhancer tokens.

Ask yourself where you stand on each of the three questions:
-Do I want to play Nightmare right away or is Normal and Hardcore where I want to play?
-Am I going to play 4+ runs per year?
-Am I going to get into Token Transmutation?

The answers to those questions should be enough to guide you onto the path you want.

Expansion of #3. Do you want monster bits?

Treasure pulls (and buying form other players) are the only way to get monster bits.

We forgot something, in our focus on URs. For the sake of completeness:

Lenses of Fortune have the shortest payback period of any other greed token, of about one or two runs on average. It takes a relatively uncontested slot at normal level, but forbids your use of any other loot token. It's not a super-attractive option if you're considering URs, but an option nonetheless.

I'm thinking, to be worthwhile, the CoGF requires a group with at least five others (preferably nine). Any such group is probably going to have one to lend you.

So, assuming CoA is out of the question, I'd say get AoTF first, then RoR. There are fewer of those around and will cost more than the CoGF, but will be better in the long run.

SUPER CAVEAT - I anticipate a huge push to reprint the RoR in 2017 and/or 2018. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth on both sides of the debate. But be aware the RoR could devalue 70% overnight if the forces of (insert "light" or "darkness," depending on which side you're on) prevail.

I think the more serious issue with a RoR reprint is the formula for the CoA. Without changing the recipe to exclude any RoR printed after 2015, there will be a LOT of dissent.

If we see RoR reprint (which seems likely) I expect to see the recipe for the CoA to get modified moving RoR to 1 point, AoTF to 2 and CoGF to 3.

I expect we will see this change happen once token orders are shipped that year but with 3-5 months of warning like normal based on token design

If there is going to be a reprint, I'd rather it be CoGF. It would not be as disruptive to the recipe as it has a value of 2 points instead of three.

I've been doing a numbers crunch and a token count. As some know I've been running Plinko at a loss for a while now. If I were to keep running it as is it would be an even larger loss. So I've decided to change it up a bit. Unfortunately like all good things the price to play is going to have to go up.

I think I'm going to take a step toward a sustainable path. If it stays interesting to folks I'll keep going with it. If not I'll phase it out.
These changes to gold should reduce my player base. In theory it should clump up the gold in large amounts that are more usable to vendors/traders.

I didn't want to compete for market space with the vendors/traders but I feel this shift in gold is going to put me there, I'll have to re-evaluate once I see what happens I guess.

I know there are people that would prefer to play a game than to trade and that is the market niche I will likely fill in the future.

I'd be really surprised to see the CoGF reprinted before the RoR. I think the Recipe could be altered so that the new printing of RoR was only worth 1 point, like the AoTF.

I would imagine we might get a functional reprint of RoR and that would solve the problem of the CoA formula. It could be a +3 Treasure that cannot be worn with RoR (and/or CoA). Just a thought. Not advocating this.
