TOPIC: Tokens arrived!

<br />I actually had an bit of an unpleasant experience with selling a Purple.  My group found our one and only Purple, a 500 GP gem, but at the time nobody had enough tokens or gold to reimburse the rest of the group for it, so I went to the Magic Shop to sell it and divide the gold.  The guy running the Magic Shop looked at it and said he'd give me a bonus because it was purple, then gave me the 500 GP and threw in a couple of common tokens, not quite the bonus I'd expected.  Then - with me still standing there in front of him, he held it up and said "My first purple, I'm going to make a lot of money selling this on Ebay!".  I was surprised that he had bought it for himself rather than the shop, and I thought it was a bit rude to gloat about getting it from me while I was still standing there.<br /><br />I'm sure he was the exception to the rule though, and every other True Dungeon experience I've had has been wonderful!  <br />

<br /><br />Whoa!  Are you sure about this MSteele?  There were only a small handful of us that worked in the Shop and I can't imagine any one of us seriously doing something like this.  Like others have mentioned, the Shop Keeper was probably joking.<br />

<br /><br />Hi Douglas,<br /><br />I'm quite sure of it, it really stuck in my memory.  Although, I have no way of knowing if he used store tokens or his own tokens to purchase the gem.  I was sure he wasn't joking, but who knows, maybe I was wrong.  I want to be clear though that, although this bothered me at the time, I quickly got over it and I only brought it up now because the thread reminded me of it.  True Dungeon is one of my favorite GENCON experiences ever (every year), and this incident didn't detract from that at all.<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Mike

The new reds aren't all that great with the exception of the elven chain. Once the prices stabilize, you're probaly better off just trading for them rather than getting them initially.

Yeah... it just would have been more fun than, "oh look... ANOTHER thunderstone"  *sigh*<br />I did get a lot of +1 weapons that I can trade, but I was hoping for more of the "hooray!" factor.  That's all.

<br />Ya, ditto. God knows what I'm going to do with all these farging quarterstaves +1 and elven cloaks. The latter is only good if I find myself in a run with someone who ends up being a jerk. I figure at that point I distribute elven cloaks to everyone who's not a jerk and we try to free as many monsters as we can so it eats the guy we don't like.

LOL... ya'll crack me up.<br /><br />I bet that some AA meetings sound just like this. The addiction takes hold and it becomes more difficult to feed the cravings, more difficult to feel the rush. <br /><br />Perhaps the hunt and trade will just be that much more satisfying.

<br /><br />Yah, I recall the fun of trading.<br /><br />I'll be on the lookout/hunt for the elven chain and a bunch of MW arrows.<br /><br />Of course, it would help if I order my tokens so I have a bit more to trade with. Or perhaps the token gods will smile upon me in my batch.
