Ah, the frenzy begins. No bank account or credit card limit is safe. Feed, my children! Feed on this bounty of tokens before us! Let every tree be turned into a mountain of tokens!!

You're not going to find many people willing to part with them. It's just way too late for that at this point. They've all tended to clump in the hands of collectors who would rather part with bodily limbs than their purples. The best time to pick them up is just to trade it off of people as they come out of the dungeon.

Henwy is pretty close to hitting the nail on the head...and your point that some people have 10 or so of them backs what he is saying...if someone has 10 it is a pretty good bet they are shooting for a set of 1 of each. Collectors have been hard at work picking them up ever since they first popped up and even "we" are having difficulty trading one another from our dups...The lone person who has a set may have been able to make it because he worked hard for 3 or so days at the CON and made it happen on the spot.

Trying to buy one with $$$ is going to be tricky at best...

Do you know for a time after most CONs they pop up on eBay...I know you were interested in getting them before INDY - but perhaps if you can't buy any with $$$ you should be watching eBay soon after the next CON.

Good luck,
G

Hey Trem,

Good luck with the find. Posting is the best (and only) way to start. Someone might just be willing to part with one.

Also, don't forget you DID successfully make it through 4 times without one last year. Sounds like you're a talented player in your own right.

That being said, it is also important to discuss how your party will divy up treasures found BEFORE entering the dungeon. I was a volunteer last year and was lucky enough to accompany a team as the Barbarian. Well one young man on the team collected 4 purps during the adventure because he'd focus on tokens as most the rest of us worked on solving the room. I am mad at myself to this day for not asking politely that he offer to share them amongst the other paying players (not me) since it is a team effort. *gets off soapbox*
WTF?!?! errr, WTH I mean. How in the world did he get 4 UR's in a single run?

It was the tower run. I know of 2 specifically I watched him get. He sucked one purp up outta the well. I believe he grabbed another in the fairy room, and possibly was lucky enough to get one from the chest of many drawers, or was it the snake room towards the end.

Honestly he could have gotten one or two from some previous run I didn't know about. But the main point, more so, is that he was apparently token-hunting and not a team player, nor did he share any bounty with his paying comrades. I do know that he showed me 4 purps out in the tavern when a few of us sat down afterwards to recant tales. I also know he sold one of them (outside the tavern) a little while later to a someone who was not part of the run.

GAH! Thanks Henwy, now I gotta hit the sack with my mind racing. =|

Man, if he was in my run I would have gotten together with the other teammates, filled a few socks with a handful of d4's and taught him the power of sharing.

Yeah, like I said, I'm still irked. Though not sure if it is directed at this young man, or more at myself for not politely, yet firmly, suggesting the paying players divy the loot.

We now return this forum back to Trem and his hunt for the ever elusive Purps. =D

It's one thing when you pick up 1 token...it's hard to divvy up something like that. I can sorta see how the one who solves whatever it is gets it. When you get 4 though, that's way beyond greedy Mcselfish.

Still, I always did sort of regret I didn't finish the rest of the runs I had signed up for just to farm purps out of it :P.
