TOPIC: Might set - beyond lvl 5?

Might set - beyond lvl 5? 12 years 7 months ago #1

Forgive a newb if I'm missing something... but all new characters started at level 4 in 2011, correct? Are there are characters above level 4 or 5 naturally now? What happens if a char is lvl 5 or higher and wears a trio of Might? Does the char get bumped to the next level up? Does the char just lose the level up bonus?

You're mixing character levels and player levels. Character levels are set and for years was at lvl 3. They bumped it up to lvl 4 for everyone and lvl 5 with the might set this year. It's unlikely this will change for years to come at the minimum. Players earn XP and advance in levels based on how far they get in the dungeon. Player levels earn various out of game benefits and as it stands, we have around a dozen and change players who are lvl 7. This has no impact upon the characters they play.

There are only a few ways to go to 5th Level right now. The Might Trio, Smak's Artifact, and someone's card from the Deck of Many Things. The Ranger and Druid will eventually be able to go to 5th Level by having two Eldritch Items also.

There is a maximum of +1 Level (to 5th Level). If you have two or more items/sets raising you a level, you still just go to Level 5. There is no Level 6.

Ohhh... that makes more sense! Thanks henwy.

What kind of out of game benefits come with higher player levels? Or is that in one of the guides and I overlooked it?

Player Levels and the Associated Benefits are kind of buried in the "How To Play" section.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

I think one of the Amulet of Wonder effects was also +1 level?

You're correct, that was a possibility on the AoW as well.

Although it's funny, I watched or rolled it 12 times, which mathematically it should have come up on +1 level, but somehow it never did lol.

I used my AoW twice. The first time, I got double HoP - awesome! Except we only got 1 treasure stamp - boo!!! The second time, I got +1 reflex save - meh.
