That is a role I am interested in - during my off hours as a volunteer of course...I just hope that there are such people to spread the wealth - so to speak.

No one should do without that Cross Bow "blaster" if that is what they have their heart all set on.

Which reminds me - anyone see how the range weapons get resolved on a battle board? Are people throwing things - or is it a puck to slide?

Gary,
As far as ranged weapons, I have not talked to Jeff about that yet, but have a few ideas I am sending him... so we will see.

Personally, I would like to see it resolved differently, with a different skill. Either tossing things onto the battle board, instead of sliding, or having a separate target/thrown item altogether. Kind of like the targeting in True Heroes.

I don't know of course, but I would gather it will be something similar to the true hero's throw.

perhaps a "life size" battle board hung on a wall and some nerf/velcro balls to throw at it. :) That'd be cool. :)

OK I could not resist...went to my newest best friend Ms. token bag generator - and wanted to see about gold to weapon averages.

Here are the results of 10 random rolls:

total gold 124 - total # of weapons 39

That is a 12.4 gold per bag average and almost 4 weapons per bag. Hmmm seems to me people will flock to the smithy to sell weapons to make up for poor gold.

Of the ten rolls I had - had two bags with 0 gold and the two highest at 35 and 31.

Weapons - had three bags with 2 (least) and one bag with 8!!! Typical bag was 4.

I would say my gold pulls were very slim - (as is my usual luck) but I am pointing this out for TD players and TD staffers - as if the odds continue as planned and people get loads of standard weapons - expect a large turn-out of sellers at the smithy.

Thanks

OK, 10 random rolls for myself.

Gold (counting gems) 153gp for 15.3 average per bag.

Weapons total 20... averaging 2 weapons per bag.

Of the 10 bags, 2 had NO gold at all, and the highest counts were 50g and 30g.

For weapons, 5 of them had only ONE weapon. The most weapons was four in a single bag.

Doesn't matter how it works out though. If I can sell my excess weapons for gold, then I don't mind the low gold count. *shrug*

Hrm... I wonder if this apparent overabundance of weapons and armour is going to be a "problem" for TD. I mean really, once you have your weapon/armour set, you dont need anymore.... ever (unless you want to upgrade to magical).

Was it stated for sure that you can sell excess weapons for gold? If so, I think TD will need to have a lot of extra gold on hands. ;)

I bought the new larger tavern with the gold collected at the last two cons so ... Truthfully I'm not as worried about gold as healing potions. Gold I never ran out of in the tavern (except small denominations) but healing was another story. People are welcome to trade for things not just sell excess weapon/armour for gold/gems.

God, I had such a good time in the tavern. I bought over 15 bags last con and had a over abundance in tokens. I traded my token right at the bar. I remember leaving at least 50 gold at the bar before i left for the serving wench to purchase equipment for incoming adventures who did not have any. I plan on purchasing at least 30 bags use what i need and give out the rest. Or trade for a real fair deal depending what it is.

Perhaps...but I had a few more than 15 of the first run...MUHhahahaha

And that is also why I think 30 of this run is more than enough.

Had there been more "very rares"...I could see getting Jeff as a token mule.

OK bear with me I did it again - just can't keep my hands off the token kit generator. (It is soooo cool) 10 rolls yielded the following:

GOLD: 47, 15, 45, 5, 18, 5, 15, 8, 30, 7. TOTAL 195 or 19.5 ave
Weapons/armor: 2, 1, 3, 5, 4, 3, 3, 0, 5, 5. TOTAL 31 or 3.1 ave

So I think a safe range for most token bags is to expect 10-35 gold per bag average and 2-4 weapons/armor per bag average. (gold is a harder call- as you could get the 200gp gem and really skew the average)

I mention this once again - not to bore anyone - although I can see that is a real possibility - this will be the last time - I promise. BUT I mention this to help buyers determine how many bags to buy as well as to help buyers and maybe TD gague the amount of goods I think we will see change hands at INDY.

I for one will have 30 bags - that means 60-120 weapons/armor to trade...lets say I keep one of each of the magicals and a few that will work for the typical class of CHAR I play - that cuts my estimated average items to sell down to something around 40-100. The average number in that range is 70 - 70 items available to sell or trade...

Now of course not everyone has 30 bags - I wish they did but let's look at the 10 bag numbers for a minute - if 70 is average for 30 bags then about 20 "trade" items per 10 bags should be expected. (If a group buys 10 bags then of course the weapons/armor are handed out to more players...)

Now add in a few more trade items for return players who have some remaining stock on hand ... I could realistically see myself trading over 120 items at INDY. And the 10 bag player - 35-50 items.

Maybe I am over analyzing this - but I know how many bulk scrolls and potions I am sitting on already and I can see liquidating these for gold or gems...or whatever is missing from my arsenal.

Just trying to help here...as much as I like trading I already have issues lugging around my tokens.

BOTTOM LINE:

Does TD expect to limit - say the number of healing potions that one player could trade and or purchase? This would be a management nightmare - but unless there are tons of tokens in stock for trades for each and every day of the CON - I fear we could see a drought like at SOCAL.

Gary,

LOL! Yes, I think you are over analyzing this. ;^p

But your averages raise an interesting point. You mentioned an AVERAGE of 3 weapons per bag. If each person purchases only 1 bag, then by definition, unused weapons will outnumber used weapons by 2 to 1. Given that I think the average bags/person will be more so this mix is basically creating a massive weapons glut. In other words, the common weapons are basically worthless because everyone will have MANY extras to give away or worst case, loan you.

I think it would have been better to not include the common weapons (rare ones are fine) in the bags at all and instead give each adventurer ONE common weapon pick per time through TD.

But alas, the wheels are already in motion it appears.

Tokens ship April 14th I think? Anyone hear anything on this?
