TOPIC: Class specific forum discussions

What about the fear of overlap, since many builds will be applicable over multiple classes. I see 10 different being too much. Maybe focus on combat types.

Primary Magic Users
Magic / combat users
Primary Combat users
Then some sort of a mixed guild for Druids, Bards, etc?

This is what I was saying earlier - there isn't going to be enough difference in content to separate Fighter from Barbarian from Ranger.

What about a forum which is simply "Class Discussion" and we have a sticky post for each specific class? We can easily make new threads in the forum for various topics - whether they are Barb-build specific, or generically combat-user oriented., or Mage-related, or just about the most effective use of a specific Wizard spell?

What's wrong with having separate sections for each class? If there's overlap, no big deal - it's not like people who like to play Barbarians won't be able to access the Fighters' area.

How about The Colosseum for fighters?

that sounds like a highly sensible idea.

My only issue with a generic forum and using the sticky feature, is that it would be more management on someone like me as a moderator to ensure those things were maintained. After a short time there would be more than one full page of just "Stuck" posts, I would prefer there be separate boards, and if one or two threads need to be maintained at the top, we do so.

  1. More Forums to keep up with.
  2. Same Questions and advice on multiple forum places make it harder to get the best tips, and people less likely to repeat the same thing over and over.
  3. Most suggestions will apply to multiple classes anyway.
  4. More difficult for people new to TD find what they are interested in with the classes all spread out.

I would argue that the rogue, bard, druid, cleric, ranger and monk classes are too distinctive to be lumped in with other classes. So with the fighter classes (fighter, dwarf fighter, barbarian and paladin) and the wizard classes (elf wizard and wizard that would be 8 groups.

I would argue the Barbarian would need her own too.

I would suggest starting out with 10 seperate categories. If the theory that there will not be enough activity to warrant 10 separate categories, then it would probably be easier to merge them then it would be to split them.

This.

I also just don't see there being that many class discussions based on what's currently being posted in the forums. It can't hurt to have 10 new, different forums specifically for class discussions, but is there a need for it?

Ranger - The Woods or The Stables

I would be okay with the woods or the forest. The stables (to me) brings to mind how to be a stable hand and muck out stalls.
A soldiers first battlefield is always his own mind.
