TOPIC: Class specific forum discussions

Class specific forum discussions 10 years 5 months ago #1

After have witnessing the class specific discussions made during the token creation process I had an idea but don't know whether anyone would be interested in it other than myself.

How do people feel about the creation of a new forum category 'Guild Hall' with 10 sub-categories for each of the ten classes where players can discuss character builds, play styles and tips for new and old TD gamers. E.g. 'Church of Pelor' for clerics.

I believe this would breed a richer TD community with the following benefits:

1. A place where new players can go after playing TD for the first time to get playing tips for their chosen class.

2. Class specific token discussion which would show where specific classes have needs which would help with the yearly token development.

3. Increased forum traffic that will lead to a greater sense of community.

I like the idea of Guild Halls, for forums discussion on the classes.

We would need to keep it friendly tho, so newer forumites didn't get the idea that they were only welcome in their "own" hall, or that they couldn't contribute to conversation about any class they felt like.

I agree and I believe that the community is mature enough that it wouldn't happen. After all, it is a cooperative game and I know I would visit each forum on a regular basis. I personally was shocked to realize how little I knew about the needs of the ranger, rogue and monk. So much so that I felt unqualified to discuss token development for these particular classes. I feel that having such a forum would help inform me and others of the needs of our potential party members.

This is a good idea as long as it stays on the class for the topic tab...

It's a good idea as long as it is not allowed to get too narrowing, meaning that it stifles discussion for whatever reason. I for one play multiple characters from time to time, so I would possibly post on multiple class specific fora.

And being too nice is boring.... I never played a good alignment...

There are also people who set up whole parties and would likely be involved in all 10 forums on a regular basis.

I think each forum would be proud to have visitors from other forums...just be careful visiting the Thieves Den ;)

on a more serious note as I understand this would be more for role playing and a chance to discuss class specific things like say builds.

It's unlikely I'd post in the Wizards tower often, but I'd like to see the discussions.

even picking the forums names would be fun, here's a couple off the top of my head

Wizards Tower - Wizard and Elf Wizard
Thieves Den - Thieves
Knighthood - Paladin
Temple - Cleric
Grove - Druids
The Wilds - Barbarian
Monastery - Monk
The Arena - Dwarf Fighter and Fighter
The Hall - Bard

I think in a game with a larger degree of interior complexity this would be a really good idea. I just don't see how in TD there are going to be a lot of special discussions on the Barbarian forums vs. the Fighter forums.

Now, a general Class Discussions forum could have a lot of activity.
