TOPIC: Dreams of TD Future?

Dreams of TD Future? 7 years 7 months ago #1

So I woke up from a crazy dream this morning.

I was a new player (who somehow had my same tokens) and I find out True Dungeon has grown into this ridiculously huge thing, where Veteran players amassed their own hierarchical army of players around themselves.

I was talking to a woman who was kinda trying to explain things to me when a sound rang out through the convention, the person I was talking with recognized it and took out running through a secret side passage. I followed. We wind up outside in a huge grassy field. The armies lined up old school Warhammer Fantasy style facing off against some absolutely giant monsters. One was a "lesser" Cyclops, that was taller than this years Lava Worm, another that eventually turned out to be an elephant in a full body costume. Behind them were a trio of even bigger monsters, one a Cyclops at least twice the size of the lesser one.

She splits off to join her own army, and I'm kinda left wandering, as the armies feint and attack the minion monsters. The "lesser" cyclops goes down. I find this like ragtag group and kinda fall in with them, as we see the final minion monster fall down (revealing the elephant underneath).

The armies realign themselves as the boss monsters step up. Then all at once, everyone Charges! A man in a full Emperor's Royal Guard outfit from Star Wars leads our groups charge, we get up front and...there are tables full of GMs with hundreds, perhaps thousands of pucks. Every army has their own monogrammed set I'm scrambling and failing to find one marked dwarf fighter. When I finally find one I move off to the side to another GM to turn in my potions for Stu's Handy Stein. But as I'm fumbling trying to find my potion pouch, and the tokens I want within it. The GM interrupts me and tells me I'm out of time, and points out that there is apparently so me rule where I need to know exactly where my potions are in the bag, and pull them out first try. This GM turns out to be Bill Murray. I just sadly slink off as the armies must have called some sort of retreat or regroup. I got back to the group I was with, or at least some of them. One of them was absolutely bawling, as if something terrible happened, and then...my alarm sounded.
~Meta: Don't worry, it is perfectly "safe" to follow the drunken dwarf into the dungeon!

I'd lay off the spicy food before bedtime. :P

My TD dreams run more to the anxiety dream type. Typically I'm running late for a coaching shift and can't find the coaching rooms. Or I somehow take a wrong turn in the dungeon and can't find my way back to my party. :S
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

I woke up from a dream this morning for my boat blew up & sank... probably had something to do with the fact that I just got done watching the Jewel of the Nile!

Also didn't hurt that I saw another vehicle, a Porsche, blowup last night or the night before in another 48 hours…

After the first trip down the TD with the giant spiders, however, I did dream that an army of Shelob-sized spiders was invading over the mountains behind my parents' house - (hint - there are no mountains behind my parents house). In mid-dream, I realized this... And went "There are no mountains here!!! I'm dreaming!!!" And immediately woke up.

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

Good to see you're a tight TD player even in dreams, looking for the potion buff before sliding ;).

The TD dreams I remember are anxiety dreams - I'm at Gen Con and I realize that I missed a volunteer shift - panic ensues!

I've had that dream a few times, not for TD but other volunteer shifts at GenCon.

Good Metaphoric Dragon, Could you please tell me what you were drinking at the time because that seems like an amazing Dream. Also as to your Quote of about being unable to hit a Drunken Dwarf, being able to strike a dual classed Dwarven Fighter/ Drunken Mast Monk would be quite difficult. How do you get to be that class?

Could someone tell me what a "Web site URL" is. Is it a special form of scroll?

Its a little known fact, but most Dwarves are skilled in drunken mastery. However, because we are usually unable to maintain a lawful alignment and/or are unwilling to put down our weapons, we rarely see the full benefit from it. The spidaur was obviously too smitten with me to successfully hit me this past year though.

As for the drink, I fear it may have been a "I forgot to eat dinner" dream.
