I am fine with epic. (grind is about how far you get before you die) but I will happily run at any level

In case you guys didn't see it.

This year's Grind adventure takes place in the Underdark and Shallowdark, where it is pitch black.

Due to the darkness, characters without a light source and who cannot see in the dark, are unable to target monsters hidden in the darkness with melee attacks, missile attacks, or spells.


Knowing Eric it is a good idea to have a way to deal with this. I may have extra Goggles in case anyone needs to borrow them I am not going to be changing out the Lense of Divine Sight on the Druid though so he will probably need some other way to see. I MAY have as many has 8 extra pairs of goggles but I was not planning on bring them to True Grind.

Please speak up if you would like to borrow a pair or if you have your own way of seeing.

The UR +2 Keen Bow is usable by Bard but not Relic version. There was much debate about that.

You are correct that the Bard can not normally use the +2 Keen Slayer Bow Relic or the Io's +4 Ultra Keen Slayer Bow Legendary.

However, if you really want to use it as a Bard, this year's Eldritch Runestone effect in Grind would let you overcome the class limitation.

Yeah, there are a few viable approaches:

1. Everyone can go with darksight by using Googles of Seeing (or Drow Assassin Armor)

2. You can designate a few torchbearers (you'll have to estimate how many you will need) who can devote a free hand to carrying a torch.

3. Some of the Amulet of Wonder choices may also provide workarounds, IF you choose the right attunement.

4. You could also dig up old Darkvision Potions and Light Scrolls.... Ha! And some of you thought they were useless! :P

Will we know the 3rd element bonus from AoW before setting our build?

Like if I choose and it allowed me to see in the dark I would want different eyewear.

You would still need enough Dexterity to equip them, correct?

Correct. Attribute requirements are a separate thing that need to be fulfilled.

I think you mean the 4th bonus:

1: +2 energy damage to melee/missile

2: Spellcaster can change damage spell to element. Gets +2 damage with chosen element.

3: Half damage from energy

4: Mystery effect



Unfortunately I don't want to announce the mystery effect because it may spoil some aspects of the Grind adventure.

When you choose to use an Amulet of Wonder you choose to attune it to an element. Some elements have a mystery effect that will immediately become apparent (you will know about it at the coaching room). Some elements have a mystery effect that will not become obvious until later during the adventure.

Players can attune their AoW's one at a time. So you can let someone else be a guinea pig and attune their AoW first.

I will say that at least one of the mystery effects provides a variant form of darkvision. And at least one of the mystery effects provides a variant light source effect.

If you are relying on the AoW to deal with the darkness, you may want to bring a contingency token (Torch or Goggles) in case you select the wrong element. OR have other party members also use the AoW and they can choose to attune first.

Re: difficulty leve. Preston and I ran Grind last year on Hardcore and Nightmare, so we are good this year for Hardcore, Nightmare, or Epic. Normal just seems to defeat the purpose of going on a grind.
There is no charge for awesomeness, or attractiveness.
