OK, here is a picture of the fabrics I have laying around waiting to be made into sashes:

The brown with red embroidery is much prettier than it looks - it's like a taffeta fabric. The solid colors are moleskin, and are working up to feel a lot like suede when they're finished. The two blues are also moleskin, but a bit lighter weight. The red/black is a cotton.

I've got a waiting list going, so if you decide you'd like one, you'll need to be patient with me. Those of you on the list, please pm me with a fabric choice - Apteryx, Lord of Mistakes (x3, can be different or the same), Brian, MagicGod, blahblahblah.

Oh, and I'm using a token as the button to hold the sash together. So far I've used rope and tinder box - if you have a preference, or want something else, let me know. Note - if it's something other than a run-of-the-mill common, I'll need a replacement. Also, I don't think they'll let you use a Horn of Plenty after I've drilled a hole in it, so keep that in mind. And it should be a composite token, I'm afraid one of the woodies would snap.

binia
VERY cool - do me/us a favor and post more completed pics if/when you can...the final product is just sooo cool to see!

These have been a long time coming...can't even remember who had the first blush idea for these years ago(Sis might recall - the idea led me to make the 2006 token totes...).

And as an aside...I've been getting some nibbles for 2006 Token Totes...maybe I ressurect them in a year or so...anyone interested in those, PM me and/or look for a future thread where I may be asking for feedback.

Thanks BINIA for making these, but especially for finding a plastic that could be used for other projects maybe even improve the old totes I made.

Looking sharp!

I couldn't agree more. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for them to show up.

They're gorgeous. I will proudly wear mine. They're just right for what I need. Thank you Binia.

oooo ah - mom and I made our first attempt at a sash! (Thanks B for the step by step guide.)

So far so good - we have the outer part sewn together and have the back side cut out - just waiting on batting and bias tape.

We made a few changes here and there - but it sure is a cool design. Was not sold on it until I tried it on...it wears well but could still clash with the Team Token Mantles...I guess I just have to assign wearing things on certain runs!

anyhoo - I'll post a pic or two when things wrap up.

Batting? I haven't used any batting myself - I figured the lighter the better considering it's august.

Can't wait to see how it turns out for you! Did you try the pocket?

Well the batting is to add some bulk and make it stand out a tad and perhaps lay better.

I'm debating on the secret pocket - I'm leaning towards a single token pocket on the inner front of the sash - sort of an inner vest pocket for a watch sort of thing.

oh - the plastic from Joanne's is AWESOME - mom and I discussed using it to bring back the 2006 Token Totes...that is starting to look like a reality for 2009!!!

Yes, I had pondered an inner pocket too. Now that I have the hidden pocket down, though, it's going pretty fast.

So how would you use the plastic on a token tote? As the sides, with a cotton fabric for the bottom and top?

Re: Token sashes 18 years 1 month ago #11

Well the softer plastic would allow a zig zag stitch - or so we think...and we could use bias tape in advance of cutting to size...there are all sorts of possible improvements over using the plastic over token pages...

For those of you not willing to be like Gary and make your own, y'all should consider Binia and her work. If she has the time and is willing to make'em for you, get'em. They are soft, comfortable, a good fit, and gorgeous. Well worth every penny.

Thanks again Binia.
