TOPIC: Ioun Stone: Diamond Sphere

Ioun Stone: Diamond Sphere 13 years 1 month ago #1

Ioun Stone: Diamond Sphere
Counts as one item towards any one set bonus.

It is time for this. The flexibility this would allow is mindboggling, while remaining within the realm of an Ultra Rare, I feel.

That would be a truly amazing item.

Since the crystal structure of diamonds doesn't lend itself well towards a sphere, I suggest
Ioun Stone: Diamond Marquise.

Agreed.
Perhaps it could count as part of a set of equal or lesser rarity. (So this UR could apply to a UR Set or Rare Set or even Uncommon and Common Set).
This would allow for even Rare, uncommon and common version of this item.
It would also allow the crafting of a higher Legendary and Relic level versions. Though I have no idea where Eldritch would fit in that schema (if it fits at all).

I like this idea too. But I also agree it shouldn't apply to the eldritch set.

In my opinion, the token as you described should only be available in the Artifact or Legendary rarities. If it was an Ultra Rare, I think the completion effect would need to be limited to Rare sets or lower. But I don't think it becomes a worthwhile trade-off at that point.

I think an Anything Item-esque (for those of you who remember D&D 2E) UR would be reasonably powered if the Anything Item allowed you to finish the set without giving the individual power of the item and you could not equip anything in the slot the AI is proxying. E.g., I am wearing Crown of Might & Girdle of Might then use my AI to proxy Boots of Might . I get the +1 level for completing the Might Trio, but do not get the +2 Constitution and cannot wear boots. This may seem severe, but there has to be a trade-off for something that powerful.

I don't think a set-proxy token should ever be able to take the place of a token more powerful than an Ultra Rare.

All good points. I'm starting to think it would be best as a relic that takes at least one UR to create.

I would agree it would either need to be a relic replacing a UR or lower only token or a UR would have to not allow you to wear anything else in place that you are using as mentioned above.

Basically you shouldn't have a token that can replace any other token without it either being rarer than said token or having some sort of negative aspect.

Ioun Stone: Diamond Marquise
Proxies one item towards a Rare or lower set, also occupies the slot of any item it proxies.

Ioun Stone: Flawless Diamond Marquise
Proxies one item towards an Ultra Rare or lower set, also occupies the slot of any item it proxies.

Ioun Stone: Jeff's Diamond Marquise
