While I am sure you are not the only person, you are the only one I know of.

I didn't like much of anything about it. The paths, powers, etc all made everyone feel kind of the same. There just wasn't much at all that would make one class feel different from another.

Especially with healing surges. Ugh.

I'm a 4E fan.

I'm also a huge fan of miniature terrain, and mini's skirmish games, so 4E was fantastic for me : )

That the critique many people who didn't like 4E made.

I play some minis games and enjoy them. Heroscape, Lord of the Rings TMG, Axis and Allies to name a few. Though I sold my AAM collection to support my token habit. ;) Even the D&D minis game. But I didn't care for it in my RPG sessions.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

There is a D&D after 1st Edition!?

Blasphemy!!

C'mon, the best artwork even to this day was 2nd Edition.

One name for you... Larry Elmore.

Elmore’s greatness originated in 1st Edition.

‘Nuff said.

I agree on Larry but key word "originated". He took off during 2nd along with Clyde Caldwell, Keith Parkinson, Brom, Jeff Easley...these are the greats! The artwork still is amazing!

I don't really blame them. A lot of, if not most of the artist from the old TSR days have some serious bad taste left in their mouths by how they were taken advantage of.

4th felt to me like they tried to change D&D into WoW or some other MMORPG, but without a computer to manage all the fiddly bits. And there were a ton of those. With all the decisions and bookkeeping, a round of combat seemed to take forever. After a few sessions I begged our group to go to an earlier version. I didn’t care if we dragged out an old purple or white box. I was so relieved when they finally came out with Next.

But we play online with Roll20. I love minis too, but it’s hard to do online. Tabletop 4th might be tolerable vs excruciating.
