TOPIC: The Uncanny Resurrection of Dungeons & Dragons

Good read.

Dungeons & Dragons seems to have been waiting for us somewhere under the particular psyche of this generation, a psyche that may have been coaxed into fantasy mania by the media that surrounded it.

So all them years I hated on 4th ed,
Justified...
Also 5th ed, is the best version since
1st great game. It’s not surprising it’s selling well.

Two people I've known for years that never would have played before just played their first games and have joined weekly games. Very interesting...

I never knew it died and needed to be resurrected.

That said, I played mostly AD&D 2nd Edition (1988-2002) and I have been playing 5th since it came out in 2014. 5th Edition has some minor issues but is definitely the best Edition since 2nd. 3rd/3.5 was "anime" ridiculous with it's crazy multi-class bonanza. 4th shall not be mentioned.

We played a lot of GURPS over the years, but are moving more to D&D again. I'm pretty sure we're using an older edition. We've got another game in a couple of weeks, I'm really looking forward to it! :)

C'mon, the best artwork even to this day was 2nd Edition.

One name for you... Larry Elmore.

Elmore’s greatness originated in 1st Edition.

Am I the only person who didn't hate 4E? I mean yeah, it was over simplified but for someone running games for newbies most of the time we were able to hit the ground running. I still run it now and then. Personally I prefer 3.5 or 5E, but I don't understand all of the vitriol that 4E gets.

yes

Well, I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .
