Attendance is defiantly up this year. I can't think of any year housing completely booked solid, let alone on the first day.

Makes me wonder how fast TD will sell out this year. Might be a bit of a fight for runs.

To that, I'm a little surprised by the number of people saying they are bringing babies. Not just children or toddlers. But babies.

I've had years I've gone home with bruises trying to get through the halls. Can't imagine trying to do it with a baby and keep it from getting hurt.

You haven't used a baby carrier/stroller as a ram to get through crowds. :-)

We ended up getting the Sheridan North on the far north end of the 465 loop. It is 12 miles from the ICC. It is thankfully on the Number 18 Bus line, but it a 52 minute ride to the downtown Transit Center, still several blocks from the ICC. I need to double check how early and late it runs.
I know the voters passed a 1% tax to improve transportation and build some BRT's, but if they really want to keep the big conventions, they have to massively improve transportation, and then the far flung hotels won't seem so far.

I agree. I have seen a lot of complaints about transportation. If that were better I think a lot more people wouldn't mind staying farther out. GenCon should commission shuttles and spend the money to make them excellent, that will grow attendance.

Or they could run the con twice per year.

For those of you on the perimeter of Indy, check into Blue Indy. They have electric cars with stations all over the city. The parking is reserved for their cars, and their is an app that will let you reserve a car or a spot.

Well, the city often closes off all parking on quite a few streets downtown. Guess which vehicles still get to park? :P

Fiddy I hope you understand I was trying to be cynical in my post :-). I agree on the parking thing kinda like handycap spots right they reserve them for people who never seem to use them. Again being cynical there, the problem is eventually we have to hit some limit of cars and promote ride sharing.

To be completely fair, some of the dealers contribute to the problem by keeping all their booth space for themselves, forcing attendees to stop in the aisle to see what they offer.
