imho, it does not outweigh the enormous negative of -2,000 tickets.

Agreed. The reduction in total tickets is my biggest concern - especially with the anticipated increase in demand.

In fact its only -1000 tickets.

The intro dungeon should be attractive to new players or those on a budget who don't care about XP or loot.

Dave wrote: The Gen Con experience for me has been sliding of late. I used to be into more games, but little by little more of my time and energy has moved to TD. Now it's about 80% of what I do at Gen Con. Considering the hotel prices and difficulty getting a downtown hotel along with the TD price increase and the assumed difficulty in getting tickets, I'm leaning more towards the other cons. My plans for this year are already set, but as I plan for next year, If I have to scale back on a con, Gen Con is likely the one I will skip. When you consider that GHC and Origins are also offering 3 dungeons and 3 days of adventuring, it just makes economical sense. I haven't seriously considered PAX South yet, but it does come with advantage of being a southern location during a cold month. Things to think about.

Ticket sales in April and May will tell us a lot more about how these changes have impacted interest. I think the results will be good for TD.

My past practice has been 4 runs at GenCon and 2 at GHC. I could see those numbers reversing. Especially since I hope to get Astral done at Origins.

The downside would be that I might not be able to volunteer at GHC with those numbers.

i don’t have numbers, but i don’t know that anyone does. I doubt we were getting 1000 brand new players that each year. even if we were some of them will still go for the full experience over the intro. it is a loss of 2000 tickets. how that affects ticket availbilty we shall see but i don’t see it as a good thing. you had 4000 tickets to get one of the dungeons before and now you have 2000 (assuming you want to do each dungeon). we will lose some folks and some will do the mini, but it still a pool of less tickets period. again we shall see but i am guessing if you want to run a particular dungeon on a particular day and time it is likely to be harder to get it. how much harder we shall see.

Not to snark but that's also 2000 less participation tokens and assume lessened draws from treasure boxes.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven
