TOPIC: GENCON 2018 Housing

I got my first choice the holiday inn express... being I don't know if any of my friends are going to be able to go yet I hope I don't have to pick up the entire bill for it! Good luck to everyone!

My friend was able to get an Embassy Suites room with his 12:36 window, so that frees me up to let another friend of mine use my backup room. Now, all we need to do is manage to get our True Dungeon tickets! :)

I hope everyone else is getting the rooms they wanted as well!

Earliest my group had was a 2:05 time, he just got a Hotel 4 blocks away. Not adjacent but not miles. Gotta look on the bright side. :)

Congrats to all who got their accommodations. :)

Has anyone ever started at Courtyard Marriot Downtown? I'm seems close to the convention Hall but nada in terms of food.

The Courtyard Marriott is on the other side of the JW Marriot and is connected to it. Its a pretty long walk from the True Dungeon area. Probably the furthest away and still be a "connected hotel".

Yeah I'd give pretty much anything for a VIG badge. It's 500 dollars but you know that's the difference between a block and out of block hotel :)

Lucky me and the wife got a 1 king room in the Crown Plaza with our 1:51pm time frame. Not sure how that worked since people were having trouble at 12:30 getting a close room... but I'll count my lucky stars!

What is strange is how ADA works.... How can they assign rooms after block for ADA? That would mean that ADA rooms would be booked by non ADA people? It's all strange... but next year will be sure to book a room out of block before hand if possible... unless we get VIG :)

I would bet that they have X rooms set for the block but dont assign those rooms until it is relevant. If no ADA rooms are needed in-block, they can use them all out-of-block.

Did Airbnb, only $320 for the Con for an apartment over a garage about a mile north of the convention center. Thank God for Parkwhiz. I had a 11pm time, Origins is looking better every year
