If you look back at the history of AoW die rolls, +1 level has sometimes been one of possible outcomes


+1 level used to be awesome.

Now that we have seven other paths to 5th level, getting just +1 level from AoW is totally meh, IMO. Power creep strikes again.


It would still be a decent way to get a lvl bump if you didn't have another. It is only 1 UR without a negative.

I agree +1 was considered amazing. Now its almost a given to have at least 3 in a run be 5th.

I'd want it to be a bonus with a static effect including +1 level instead of a die roll though. I'd have the group outfitted for 5th Level otherwise, not taking the 5/6 chance that the die roll wouldn't yield +1 Level.

To be completely clear, does the AoW effect triple all runestones, or just the first one?

Could you get +12 damage from showing and turning in 3 runestones with 2 fitting bases, or would it be +6 (one tripled and 3 turned in)?

Another question on the AoW,

Would spell damage include the bonus from Bardsong, damage to monsters from drinking certain potions, or using scrolls that cause damage to monsters?

AoW triples only the first runestone, if you turn it in. Doubles if you don't.

Bard song and drinking potions don't damage monsters directly. They increase other damage, so there's no reason to think the AoW would effectively sextuple a runestone.

As for scrolls and wands - it does say "all damage," but scrolls also cannot in general be modified, so TPTB would have to rule on what happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object, if they haven't already.

I agree with you that I can't imagine anything affecting wands and scrolls.
