Assuming a switch, would it then be reasonable to allow the AoW to work on an Eldritch Runestone?

If not, I get that. I just don't think triple the runestones would be enough of a draw to get the AoW to see much play, and definitely seems worse than in previous years.

Yeah, I wouldn't wear it at that point either.

I usually wear Stu's. With +3 typed damage, I'd definitely wear AOW instead. But that's just me, I guess.

It's all moot for me, as I'll be wearing the amulet of guarding.
I will offer it to one of our team, and I'm sure someone will probaby be wearing it.

Maybe I'm still adjusting to the loss of how cool the now Special effect is.

It sounds cool, but I wouldn't find it useful, whether AOW or Special. I have never run out of spells, healing is cheap, and I wear Eldritch anyway so +1 level isn't a problem. Different strokes and all that.

If a wizard uses the AoW effect with a Decay Runestone, does it affect his non-sliding spells? The original post seems to indicate yes ("it affects all your attacks"), but Druegar's later posts specify slide attacks only.

Little "birds" (aka wizened intellectuals zealously advocating ranged damage) whispered in Jeff's ear while he was napping and convinced him the super-charged runestone effect should affect non-sliding spells as well.

This post has been updated to reflect that.

Now this just got more interesting.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Hold on, hold on, hold on...

There aren't any runestone that give bonuses to spells at all, right? There are runestones with bonuses for attacks with melee weapons, and ones for missiles, but I didn't see any that said "ranged attacks," which would include (sliding) spells. (BTW - that could be a wizard complaint - there is a runestone that boosts healing spells, but none for damage spells.)

Am I missing something? I just reviewed all of them in the TdB.

Is the allowance of bonuses to damage spells one of the effects of the AoW?

You would not believe how often I had to correct the computer trying to change "runestone" to "rhinestone."

There are a few Runestones I was curious about relative to the AoW effect.

Ferret Runestone Adds +1 to Reflex Saves

Owl Runestone Adds +1 to Will Saves

Toad Runestone Adds +1 to Fort Saves

Good Runestone Adds +1 to healing from a spell

Yew Runestone Adds +1 to hit points

Could all these effects be tripled also (or 4x if the runestone is turned in)?

New slot! Add up to 6 rhinestones to your cloak! :P

Per Jeff's ruling yesterday, damage-inflicting runestones--even ones that would not normally affect spells--will affect damage spells if super-charged by the Amulet of Wonder's effect this year.

So on the party card, in addition to the melee and ranged damage cells, that runestone's damage bonus would also be added to the "DMG+" line in the spell damage cell.

I think that the AoW is back on for our Wizards now. :)

yes

It's things like Air (Allows ranged weapons to be used underwater), Faerie (Hit target may not be invisible), etc. that would be meaningless if multiplied.

Could an Eldritch Runestone be shown, if equipping the AoW, to gain three extra ioun Stones without being turned in to the Coach? I apologize if this has been asked and answered.
