Here's a challenge for folks who like to exercise their Character Design Min/Maxing skills:

If you had to go into Coaching with just TEN TOKENS which 10 would you take?

EDIT: Clarifications via Incognito...

* The ten tokens include all equipped items regardless if they affect the party card (so that includes Figurines, Death Die, Ring of Regeneration, Rings of X Resistance) as well as any permanent items (Holy Symbols, Pouch of Tulz, Minotaur Horn of Alert, Quiver of Anointment, Carter's Tome).

* The only things it would NOT include are consumables that are turned in when used and charged items (which are punched when used).

Note: This Challenge is being considered for Grind, so you wouldn't need to worry about Treasure Enhancers, ... but if you don't play Grind and want to challenge yourself with a Dungeon build, you could include those too.

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

Tough call

Would depend on class a lot but Id probably go with something like

Weapon (possibly throwable)
moon runestone to protect it
Armor
strength item
saves item
level up item
free movment item
multi type dmg reduction item

class defining item (mec, healing glasses, lute, etc)
class defining item enabler or second class defining item, or propper ranged weapon

So the lamps of Madrid and Efreeti aren't recorded, so are those freebies?

All the "condtional" save or damage reduction tokens aren't recorded. Freebies?

Things that add HP only like Belt of Vitality are not recorded.

Ring of Regeneration is not recorded.

Cogs and bouncing baby beholders. Are they considered to be tokens?

Given a bit more thought I'm sure I could expand the list. You get the idea

Maybe it would be better to just say 10 tokens plus scrolls wands and potions.

Are we talking all available tokens or just what we own?

Am I right that any tokens that give a level bump count as they usually change numbers on the party card?

It would need to be tokens you own (or borrow from someone) same as any grind or dungeon run.

Here's my first stab at it as Barbarian.

I think some arguments could be made for ditching the SRoEC / RoSP and staying at 4th level, and getting some more AC/saves/Cloak of Shadowskin (really wish I could fit CoS in... it might even be better than the Pharacus' legendary cloak). But, the Boots of the Four Winds are worth it regardless, so I figured SRoEC/RoSP is not too big of a price to pay and then I get the 5th level benefits too. If SRoEC negates 10 damage even once it's effectively +10 HP... worth it.

If the group is well balanced and there are multiple boards at once, a riskier build would be to forget ranged/DEX entirely (Gloves of the Brute would replace Mithral Gauntlets) and not even have a ranged weapon. In that case I would hope that I can move to another board if there is a flying monster.

I think this build is actually good enough for Nightmare in the regular dungeon. Grind though, probably not :)

What about things like Druegar's Death Die, Lamp of the Marid, Figurine of Power: XYZ, +2 Staff of Power not wielded as a melee weapon?

Basically I'm asking is this a 10 token build + consumables?

Or is it 10 tokens that effect melee/ranged hit/damage, AC, saves, HP, spell damage, surprise, retribution damage, and free action + whatever else you want.

The rules are in flux so I would say:

The ten tokens include all equipped items regardless if they affect the party card (so that includes Figurines, Death Die, Ring of Regeneration, Rings of X Resistance) as well as any permanent items (Holy Symbols, Pouch of Tulz, Minotaur Horn of Alert, Quiver of Anointment, Carter's Tome).

The only things it would NOT include are consumables that are turned in when used and charged items (which are punched when used).

Thoughts?

That was my interpretation of it and I think that's the way it should be.
