I agree with Arcanist and Brad that the ghosting policy needs to be revisited.

Another thing which should be revisited is the minimum age policy. This gets brought up almost every year. At TDC, there were multiple runs involving different babies.

I *do* think that if you can't trust a kid on the run to keep a token, then they probably shouldn't be on the run (in terms of maturity, self-control, and responsibility).

But I am sure there are ways you could secure the token. I'm thinking of how St Bernards have been depicted with barrels of alcohol around their neck. Maybe something like that could be designed for tokens so that it would be easy for a child to securely "wear" the TE tokens.

Yes, this needs to be addressed well in advance of ticket sales.

There are pretty big differences between ghosting and loaning to a player.

In particular, when ghosting:

We know with ghosting that there was no "transaction" outside of the con's event registration system around the admission to the event.

We know no player has been presented with a rental negotiation during their TD experience around the loan of URTEs.

Both of these things may be important for reasons of complying with con policy.

The second may be important for player experience.

We could certainly have a debate around the ethics and impacts of ghosting on the community, and perhaps it will end up having the same restrictions.

I don't think we can conclude that the loaning policy entails something about the ghosting policy on the basis of equality: there are salient differences between the situations.

I guess it's a good thing that ghosting didn't happen at TDC after it was asked not to take place.

I'll head to the new thread next, but I wanted to mention something about lending tokens. Some have said they mostly don't know how much it is worth, however that can make it more dangerous in my opinion. They may be less worried about returning if they don't think it is worth much. I saw a UR weapon walk off that way once; the player just forgot and almost certainly didn't realize how valuable it was.

Physically lending tokens has risks; they can be lost on accident (by friends, family, or strangers), they can be taken by accident, and they can be taken on purpose.

I've been giving a lot of thought now to a secure way my friends can hold the tokens through the dungeon. Maybe some sort of token holder around the neck? If anyone comes up with a great solution I'd love to hear about it.

I am finishing up a low cost bracer that can hold tokens securely. Forgot how to share images, but if someone refreshes my memory, I will post when done.

FYI, Shelly has a pacemaker. Neither she nor I can wear strong magnets on our arms, nor get too close to someone who is. It could shut her off.

I would suggest looking into travelers wallets.

I'm not sure everyone will have pockets deep enough to guarantee the wallets will not fall out. But that us a thought. Right now they just need to hold 3 tokens (CoA, ISSN, MoN)

No magnets. It has a sleeve on the bracer that allows you to slide a 3 or 4 pocket piece of plastic (think a row from a coin holding page) into it. The opening on that sleeve is towards the elbow, while the piece that holds the tokens opens on the top. This keeps them from falling out, and you can see the tokens on your forearm the whole time. The current one is made from marine vinyl I had left over from a costume project, so it is water proof. I need to get more snaps and/or grommets for lacing, that is the only thing holding up completion.

Travellers wallets are basically a neck worn wallet to be hidden under the shirt in order to make things difficult for pickpockets.

Think of a badge holder with a zipper instead of a velcro flap.
