Exactly. That and I didn't realize the lenses are magical - I thought they were steampunk-esque way of lense filters allowing people to see different things.

This kind of thing clearly falls under the notion of tokens/items being negated for no good reason when logic seems to indicate that they should work.... It's that kind of thing that frustrates players and make them say or think "that was bullshit".

Edit:
I stand corrected

You could argue that if the Psychic Blur is caused by the Psychic Blast, the issue is in your characters head, not their eyes. I would think lens are correcting your vision, which is probably fine. Once those images get sent to your brain they get scrambled.

If so, it does suck to have the UR not do anything.

Personally I'd let the lenses work.

No, the Psychic Blur was not caused by the Psychic Blast. I and several other people in my group were immune to the Psychic Blast thanks to our Ioun Stone Amethyst Ovoid .

The "that token doesn't work" thing aggravates me to no end.

I found it oddly both more and less annoying since the fight allowed the Ioun Stone Amethyst Ovoid to function fully.

We all noted the same point. I think what we are seeing is a competition between excessive power creep in tokens and the need to keep the dungeons from being too easy for the heavy buyers. The simple way out of that is to negate the effects of the seemingly powerful tokens people just spent time and money collecting.
Of all the traits of humanity, there is only one we do not share with other species, which sets us apart and makes us unique <br />-- the ability to imagine.

Room 7 combats and puzzles are always tougher than the other rooms. Yeah, having a few tokens negated is rough, but it usually impacts a small group of players and usually means you may lose out on a button.

I'm not too worked up over this. It seems the more traditional magic =/= psionics argument in D&D. The Lenses of Clear Sight state they see through displacement magic in the clarification text (no idea if that was recently added though).

And because of magic vs. psionics, I can see Spirit Runestone failing in this case but the Planar Vision from having several Teeth of Cavadar (which is beyond us yet, but definitely psionic based) could possibly work. However, I should expect the reverse case to work similarly and that a magical displacement effect should not be negated by Planar Vision.

That is so terrible on two counts:
-One, yes, yes the Boots of Lave Walking, we must nerf that COMMON! Ugh....
-Two, the people who can afford the powerful tokens are the people who make TD possible for everyone else by spending boatloads of money on TD. Then you are going to tell those same investors/boosters that the tokens they spent so much money on DON'T WORK!?!? Sigh... that is a good way to lose people and piss people off. So, so, so terrible... Ugh....

I hate psionics with a passion, but Lode is right. The Player Handbook for TD just needs to be updated to clarify that magic protection ≠ psychic protection. It would save a lot of heartache and frustration.
