And which tokens are those? Obviously one-use tokens (potions, scrolls). But also I noticed that some tokens (e.g. immunity to cold or whatever) don't make it onto the party sheet that I can tell. So I assume you need to keep those in mind in case they apply and be ready to show them?

Right. Bard will need to keep their Instrument handy to show the DM. Rogue should be able to quickly show their Masterwork Tools, etc.

Your coach should tell you which to keep out.
Mostly these will be situational tokens, tools, instruments or gear.

Straight armor, saves, hit and damage should be getting recorded onto the card and you shouldn't need to show those again, but situational stuff like +2 ref vs falling might not get written, best to have those on hand.

Some tokens you don't specifically need to have on hand but you should remember them and if having them on hand helps you remember them, then do that. copper cube -1 from shock, for example. The DM won't need to see that but it helps not to forget it.

In short, just listen to you coach when they are going over your stuff. They should indicate "put these away you won't need them again" and "keep these handy you might need to show them"
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

I use Amazon.
JVCC GLW Glow in the Dark Tape: 1/2 in. x 30 ft. is $11/roll. I find it more than adequate for ensuring my tokens can be found in the dark.

JVCC GLW-24 Professional Glow in the Dark Tape (24 Hour): 1/2 in. x 30 ft. is $24/roll. If you really want the token to have a super-charged glow, go for this one.

Neither of these are cheap--especially the pro version-- but keep in mind a single 30 foot roll could wrap 288 tokens using the medhods I describe below. That comes to roughly 4 or 8 cents per token. (not counting tax & shipping) Maybe find some friends and go in on it together.

Here's how I prepare my tokens for glow tape:
  1. Cut 1/2" wide glow tape into 5" long segments.
  2. Carefully cut each strip lengthwise in half.
  3. Carefully cut each of those strips lengthwise in half.
  4. Thoroughly clean the outer edge of the token you intend to wrap.
  5. Remove the backing from one of your 1/8" glow tape strips.
  6. Slowly and carefully apply the tape to the outer edge of the token.

Press firmly while you wrap to ensure the glow tape is wrinkle and air bubble free.
  7. Ensure there is a gap (1/8" is sufficient) between the ends of the glow tape. Trim as needed.
That will yield four 5" x 1/8" strips. That's slightly longer than the circumference of a token, but I like to have a little wiggle room.

Tips
  • You may find it helpful to make guide lines prior to cutting. If you do, mark on the back of the tape so it doesn't leave glow-obscuring and unsightly lines on the finished product. Use a ruler to make sure your lines are evenly spaced.
  • I initially used a metal ruler and an Exacto knife to make my fine cuts. But because the glow tape is so narrow to begin with, I had a hard time keeping it in place while I sliced the strips. In the end, I found sharp scissors to be easier to work with because I could hold the glow tape in my fingers while cutting it. Just be sure to go slowly and keep your strips even.
  • Take your time. Measure twice, cut once. This stuff isn't cheap. Don't waste material because you're in a hurry.
  • The first year I glow-taped my weapons, I deliberately overlapped the ends of the glow tape because I thought it would be prudent to accommodate for weather fluctuations. Boy was that a mistake! After my first run, I learned that if the ends overlap, it's very difficult to remove from the combat slider!

Thanks for the info!

I only have a few tokens I want to glow tape and the cost does not bother me one bit. When you're glowtaping a +5 Welfor's a few $$ for some GOOD glow tape is worth it.

That being said, I'm going to have LOTS of left over glow tape if anyone needs some.

I hate to disagree with Raven, but on this one I will. Making a Lore check can be key as well. Let the party know the weakness of the monster, and then sing! (Or use the Lyre of Lore to do both at the same time)

I have been appropriately corrected.

Be Legendary in your display of esoteric knowledge. and THEN sing!
