Thanks much. And I'm sorry I'm not all that good a public speaker. I appreciate all the polite quiet as a rambled on. Next time we need more mullet photos.

I can't say more until early next week. I tend to be an optimist and view most change as an opportunity to make things better. I will stick with that feeling with this one.

I think being an optimist is a good thing.

I think GC has outgrown Indianapolis, just like ComicCon has outgrown San Diego.

To add more info to what I suggested at WYC, the exhibit hall space at Lucas Oil Stadium adds up to 45K square feet :) www.lucasoilstadium.com/exhibitors/getting-around-los-meeting-spaces.aspx

Hmmm, click on the event level portion, will take you to the map. Thought the link I used was a direct route.

44,000 sqft of space with attached offices might work out well for TD. If the space is available.

Lucas oil would probably work right now, but August is the middle or preseason football, so maybe not then
I just hope GenCon does TD right. TD is the only reason I go to Gencon anymore. I can get my RPGs fill at other cons. TD is the only reason I go to genCon

That's kind of where I am. Origins, shadow of its former glory as it is, is a fraction of the distance for us. But wherever TD goes, that's where I'll want to be.

The space at Lucas is essentially separate from the arena itself. If there isn't a preseason game that weekend, it should be pretty sweet. Just trying to throw out some ideas so Indy doesn't lose my favorite part of Gencon.

I will wait for the official announcement before I start pulling my hair out and freaking, but if TD and/or GenCon were to leave Indy, I would be sad. I enjoy being part of the build team and working with everyone during the con and playing with all the cool people. Since I'm a local it's nice to not have to spend a lot on travel expenses to attend.

I cannot be mad at anyone for all the growth that has been happening and the lack of support of that growth. Being a local, I know that fault lies mostly with the Convention Center and possibly the local government as well. Indianapolis generally has a project development scheme that goes something like this...
  1. Identify that expansion is required based on what happened yesterday.
  2. Plan Today for expansion that was required yesterday.
  3. Underestimate or ignore how much expansion is required for tomorrow.
  4. Take a long time to finish expansion so that tomorrow becomes a new yesterday.
  5. Start process again.

To some degree all corporations and governments are like this because of short-sighted people who only care about what happens while they are in office, and of course budget concerns, but Indiana has been particularly bad about it over the years.

I truly hope all will come out well for all of us.

You perhaps are recalling the many years the current site of Circle Center was two big holes in the ground...

It is a common occurrence. Unless you are Eli Lilly. Then you can get a major thoroughfare rerouted for your convenience - and everyone else's inconvenience.

GenCon is locked into Indy through 2020, so no worries about moving. I am concerned about the implications of continuing growth in attendance.
